When Dia finally gets caught, she has to decide: flee or fight? Or…fall in love?

After years on the run, Dia Ngata’s luck has run out. Not by hunters, though, but by a reclusive bat shifter colony and the witches bound to them. The worst part? Her fellow captive happens to be Carver Kano, the ex-lover who betrayed her all those years ago.

Carver Kano admits his mistakes, and his biggest was being too late to stop the slaughter of Dia’s tribe. Ever since, the investigative journalist has focused on putting the biggest and baddest behind bars; however, he can’t escape the prison of his guilt.

When he gets captured by the bat colony, he doesn’t expect to form a friendship with the handsome bat shifter Milos or to have a chance to earn Dia’s forgiveness. Dia plans to escape as soon as possible. And Milos? He simply wants to survive.

Dia is Kano’s mate, but Milos ignites something in them both. When someone from Kano’s past threatens the colony, can the trio put their fears and mistrust aside? Or will history repeat itself once more?

This is the third book in this series and the first one I have read. Although I am sure I missed quite a bit I was still able to enjoy it. This was also my first book with dingo, bat and swan shifters and it was very different. I tried to get somewhat informed on the first two books and know that they were about two of the three sisters who escaped the slaughter from hunters who killed almost everybody in their tribe.

Dia Ngata has been running ever since the attack on her tribe, years of trying to stay under the radar because the attack happened because she is a diamond swan and was who the hunters were after. Dia’s feathers are covered in diamonds and anyone who gets her feathers would be very, very rich. Her tribe consists of jeweled swans none nearly as valuable as her. Unfortunately, during the attack she saw the face of the boy she loved and knew in her heart that she was betrayed.

For sixteen years she has changed her identity, now going as a man named Dane working for a humanitarian organization which has now brought her to Romania and will change her life forever. When a bomb went off, she was convinced that the hunters had found her so once again she ran and she ran right into the hands of a colony of bat shifters. Once again, the saying “it’s a small world” came into play because that same bomb put her ex-lover, Carver Kano a dingo shifter into the hands of the same colony of bat shifters.

Kano has searched for Dia his mate hoping to tell his side of the story and hoping for forgiveness since you can’t always trust your eyes. While being held by the colony they become acquainted with Milos the future leader and the three of them realize that there is an attraction and dream of the possibility of being together but it is an unrealistic dream. The bat shifters are dying from a form of anemia so Milos may have a total of fifteen years to live at best. But that is not the only danger because someone from Kano’s past appears putting everyone he cares about at risk.

Secrets, lies, suspense, romance and amazing characters. I am sorry that I missed out on the first two books but am looking forward to the fourth book in the series. Dying bat shifters, hunters, a diamond swan and a dingo all looking for love and safety. Three shifters whose lives have been filled with death and loss find each other but is there a future for them?
