Vice Ambassador Kieran Phaetal has been given the monumental task to broker peace and heal the century's old wound between the water planet of Westran Alpha and the savage denizens of Hexaka. As he boards the first available transport vessel, his thoughts focused on the future only to have his past rise up and kick him right in the gut.

It had been six years since Vanysha Kureen had seen the man who abandoned their love and destroyed her life. Six long years of climbing up from slavery as one of the Unsought, disowned and discarded, to become navigator and owner of The Royal Janstar. When an impromptu flight through the bloodiest quadrant of the Nexxus system drops into her lap, she finds her luck turning for the worst as she discovers Kieran is their passenger moments before her ship is shot down, crashing onto Hexaka in flames. With the rest of her crew injured or dead, it’s up to Vanysha and Kieran to search for help on the hostile desert planet.

Forced together by enemy fire, they must move beyond the anger and passion swirling between them to bring an end to the hostilities. I have to be honest my least favorite genre is sci-fi, love sci-fi movies and tv shows but not books. I figured out that when it comes to this genre, I need it to be visual not written but once in a while a sci-fi book like this comes along and I am in love.

Vanysha Kureen owns a passenger transport space ship that she navigates and her mentor Fazzian captains. Expecting some time off she is surprised when fazzian tells her that he has accepted another assignment that will take them through a very dangerous part of the galaxy but it will mean a lot of money and will not take long. They will be headed to Hexaka a planet that has been at war with the Nexxus for centuries and now there is hope for peace talks so they are transporting a negotiator.

Ambassador Kiernan Phaetal has been charged with bartering for peace now that the Hexak Chieftan has requested the negotiations. He is going alone so there is no appearance of hostility and it will only take hours for them to reach their destination. Vanysha has no idea who their passenger is but when she sees him, she is staring at the face of the man who broke her heart six years ago. Just as shocked as she is Kiernan sees the woman he has always loved but was forced to leave. Now he hopes that spending time together he may be able to win her back. Her reaction to him and the hatred he sees in her eyes don’t fare well for his plan of reconciliation.

When he left, she found herself abandoned not only by him but by her parents making her an Unwanted and putting her on the slave block. It was Fazzian that eventually got her free but the horrors she endured before he was able to get to her have made her bitter and she places the blame on the man she loved, Kiernan. She has no intention of letting him get near her in spite of her heart wanting him as close as possible. Unfortunately, peace is not everyone’s desire and those opposed manage to attack the ship and cause it to crash.

The ship is wrecked and it doesn’t take long to realize that they are on Hexaka, now they have to find help on a planet that is desolate and whose people are barbarians. Okay I have no intention of revealing anything that they found or what happens between Kiernan and Vanysha but I will say that for someone who doesn’t like sci-fi I couldn’t put the book down and read it in one sitting even though I didn’t finish it until early morning the next day.

Secrets, lies, betrayals, romance, sex and amazing characters make this book a must read and I have no doubt that any lover of sci-fi romance will love it even more than I did.
