Killian Dugan is a warrior angel on holiday with his girlfriend Chinoah Grace, a Native American wolf shifter. They are staying in his cousin’s castle in Scotland where Killian is hoping to get Chinoah to agree to be with him for an eternity. As an angel all it would take is for them to have sex for her to be his and she is not sure if she is ready to agree to an eternity to an angel she barely knows.

This holiday was for them to get to know each other better with the end result being them together but an assignment and the appearance of his boss showing up put a damper on everything. A demon has traveled back in time to Wylder, Wyoming in the year 1878 and Killian’s assignment is to travel back in time find the demon and stop him from changing the past. Chinoah is asked to accompany him so they can pose as husband and wife running Dugan’s Blacksmith shop.

As a Native American, Chinoah knows that she will not be welcomed with open arms, not in 1878 when there was still resentment towards the Indians. She has to deal with bigotry, living without lights and indoor plumbing and trying to cook over a wood burning stove. The one thing she refuses to give in to is wearing dresses and could care less that people stare at her. Fortunately, the cabin they have was built by a rich man who lost everything and with some angel help things are not as bad as they could be. Killian has to find the demon while working at the shop which requires hard work.

A visit by a Shoshone Shaman gives them the lead they need to locate the demon and discover what he plans to do to change the past. While making plans to capture the demon and return him to the present Chinoah and Killian begin to fit in and make friends who could care less that she is an Indian. Of course, Killian doesn’t stop his pursuit of Chinoah and hopes he is starting to wear her down. Killan has no doubt that she is the one now to convince her that they are meant to be.

This was a wonderful book, a trip to the past, romance, secrets and betrayal.
