Harper Ellington is an heiress who has always wanted her dream man, Knox Moore to notice her but he hasn’t. Knox had wanted Harper for years but didn’t feel he was worthy of her due to his ill spent youth. Now with letters being sent to her family home her parents have hired the Guardian Agency to protect her.
Knox wonders if he can prevent his attraction from affecting his performance at work while carrying out the assignment. His feelings for her are very strong but he will do whatever is necessary to protect her and keep her from discovering he was hired. Her family has kept hiring the Guardian Agency for protection from Harper.
Harper has not revealed the messages she has gotten and is keeping secret about what is going on. A near car accident and a boat she was on that exploded brought the end of secrecy. He saved her when she fell off the boat and took her to a safe house where everything was revealed.
Knox does all he can to keep from showing his emotions while Harper is doing the same. Harper has wanted Knox for half her life but wonders if she should ask for another protector. When more danger comes in the form of a fire taking out her residence at the hotel, she runs finding the guilty party becomes critical.
It becomes difficult for the two of them to keep their feelings hidden, especially Harper who finally admits she has feelings for Knox and discovers he has feeling for her as well. If they give in to their feelings what happens when they catch the one responsible will Knox leave and break Harper’s heart.
When Harper finally brings up a name from the past everything becomes a race to find the suspect before any more damage can be done. It is a race against time with everyone at the Guardian Agency working night and day to end the danger.
Knox’s suspects his parents may be involved. He has had nothing to do with them due to their lack of ethics which is what pushed him into doing bad things when he was younger. They and his past are the reasons he feels Harper is off limits.
