Aura Henderson is a special agent for a top-secret government agency called Department 13, a department that houses some of the deadliest paranormal artifacts, some of which could jeopardize the entire human race. When it is discovered that the Tyrfing Sword has disappeared its recovery is essential because it can cut through anything and there is no shield or weapon that can destroy it. Her last undercover mission was a failure thanks to a pirate rushing in to save one of his crew and blowing her cover and this new mission is her chance at redemption.
Greyson Till is the master gunner on the Sea Dog and even though he never meant to blow her cover she still hates him and blames him for her failure, a failure not her boss or anyone else at Department 13 blames her for. When she arrives at the Sea Dog, it is with a chip on her shoulder which becomes a boulder when she discovers her undercover partner is none other than Greyson Till the Master Gunner and the reason her last mission ended in failure. Aura and Greyson will be undercover as a married couple interested in purchasing the Tyrfing Sword for their collection and it will take everything she has to keep her resentment from blowing the mission.
Aura used to be a NYPD officer until her friend and partner changed how she saw the world and now trust is something she is totally out of. Her mission is to return the sword and that is where her total focus is until Greyson begins to chip away at the wall she built around herself. He is enticing and she is fighting not to let him in because her first obligation is to her job and there is no room for relationships or anything else that could take her mind off what she has to do.
Greyson can’t help feeling strongly about Aura, her strength, her love of weapons makes her the perfect woman for him but he is immortal and she is married to her job in D.C. so he tries to stay cool but unfortunately, she makes him hot, hot, hot. The meeting with the seller of the sword doesn’t go as planned because someone knew who she was and lured her in. The very partner/friend she thought she left behind when she quit the force has made a reappearance. I won’t go into any details about her past or her and Greyson’s future but there is no doubt in my mind that you will love this book and all the books in the series.
All I have to see when I get a book to review is the name of the author and the name of the series and I know that I will be spending the day totally absorbed in the story and the characters. I mean who doesn’t love a handsome, immortal pirate, well alright maybe the men out there but what do they know lol.
