This is three Nocturne novellas which are backstories of main and side characters of the werewolves in the Moon series.
BLACKOUT
Dade County Deputy D.A., Dylan Landau has been cursed with a genetic defect that affects the males in the family, like his father a supreme court judge he turns into a werewolf on the full moon. Every day he works at putting human monsters behind bars while he turns into a monster when the moon is full. Unfortunately, his monster cannot be caged and every month Dylan must deal with it.
Dana Delmonico is a Miami police officer on patrol when she suddenly gets out of her car and strips naked and comes face to face with a monster. Dylan luckily happened to be there and knew that she was going through the Blackout, the first shift. This was their first meeting and Dylan was immediately drawn to her while Dana was going through denial about what was happening to her. A short but sweet story.
WOLF BAIT
When Detective Matt Wilson is called to Fairview Hospital where he once worked as Director specializing in anomalies of the psyche, he had no idea how this visit would change his life. Dr. Jenna James, a psychiatrist and his ex-lover called on him but she had a personal reason and that would be to see him again since he left her three months ago.
A female patient locked in the Monster Ward where only the worst mental cases are kept is why Matt’s expertise is required. The patient is between a human and an animal and Matt immediately knows what is going on, the Blackout, her shift something he is well familiar with for three months ago he went through the same thing. The only hope for her is to get her to the Landau’s, the ones who helped him and can hopefully help this woman.
He has to get Jenna to trust him and let him take the patient out of the hospital all the while hoping she doesn’t discover that he was bitten the night he left her three months ago and turns into a werewolf when the moon is full. Another wonderful story with quite a surprise.
MOON MARKED
Nikki Reese is a hunter, a werewolf hunter one of ten covering Miami. She is armed with a tranquilizer gun and ready to take down some werewolves. Nikki is part of an organization determined to put an end to werewolves and protect humans. Like her mother before her she can sense when an Other is near but wearing a leather outfit, she is ready.
Jonathan Baird is a werewolf and also works for an organization whose purpose is to rid the city of the rogue Weres bitten and feral. He has been watching Nikki and is unaware that she has been watching him as well. Both of them want to clean the streets only Nikki believes all Weres are bad, a thinking that would mean all humans are bad which is untrue.
Nikki does not come out of her hunt unharmed because she is bitten and scratched and since it is a full moon her transition is beginning. Jonathan tries to help her knowing that she is now carrying the Werewolf virus and trying to figure a way to keep it from killing her or making her another rogue.
Another wonderful story with secrets and surprises.
If you are not familiar with the Moon series, and if you are a fan of paranormal romance involving werewolves then I highly recommend starting from the beginning.
