When Madeline’s parents died in an accident ten years ago, she was adopted by family friends. The Richardsons are loving, protective, kind—and Werewolves.

Having just graduated college, Maddie is excited to spend the summer at the family lakeside cabin. But this year they won’t be alone—they’re hosting the Texas pack. Maddie may be pure human, but she possesses a remarkable trait—she has no scent—and her overprotective brother, Derek, will do anything to keep her safe. So when Matt, the up-and-coming Alpha of the Texas pack, falls for Maddie, things get complicated.

Before Maddie and Matt can reconcile their differences, she’s kidnapped by a rogue werewolf who wants her scentless secret. The hunt for Maddie is on—but to be saved, she risks losing everything, and the family must face some hard truths before welcoming a new Were into their pack.

At the age of thirteen Madeline (Maddie) was taken out of camp early by her parents but that was not the only thing that happened that day although at the time she thought leaving camp was as bad as it could get. Her parent’s car crashed leaving her mother dead and her father near death and all she remembered was her father sticking her with a needle and being lifted up.

Ten years have passed and she is about to graduate college and it was her adoptive brother Derek that saved her that awful night and his parents who took her in and raised her as their own. Now with her adoptive mom and dad she has found a new life with her new family, a family she learned early on were werewolves and who her parents had left as her guardians.

Her mother left her an amethyst bracelet which is the only way her family and other werewolves can find her since she has no scent and without the bracelet, she is invisible to them. After graduation her family left for their summer cabin where there will be a marriage renewal by the Texas pack Alpha and his mate and Maddie is very excited. This renewal would introduce her to Matt the Alpha’s son and when they saw each other there was an instant attraction only Matt was the future Alpha and Maddie was human.

Then the unexpected happens when Maddie is kidnapped and Matt realizes that she was more important to him than he realized and finding her was all he could think about. Unfortunately, Maddie had left her bracelet in the cabin and no one would be able to find her because she had no scent. That was when Matt realized that he could scent her and the search began. Finding her was imperative and why she was taken is not something I will reveal.

This book was filled with suspense, romance and surprises and I read it all in one sitting. This was the author’s first attempt at a novel and as far as I am concerned, she hit a home run. She is now on the list of my favorite authors and I can’t wait for more from her.
