Colt Cavanaugh is the Grey Wolf high commander out on a vampire raid when he meets a she-wolf that will change his life. Colt has only one purpose in his life and that is to destroy the vampires that have declared war on the Montana seven shifter clans. The seven shifter clans are bound by a pact that if one went to war they all went to war. This night he was asked to meet with Lucas from the vampire pack who requested the meeting to negotiate a deal to cease the war for one year. Unfortunately, the deal called for the pack to turn over ten of their strongest warriors, something that Colt had no intention of agreeing to. These were his men and he would not turn them over to the vampire for god only knows what purpose.

The same night Colt is fighting the vampires for refusing their deal, Dr. Elizabeth “Belle” Beaumont took the opportunity the fighting gave her to escape her dungeon. Imprisoned by the Grey Wolf pack for being an enemy, Belle has ties to the Missoula Grey wolf Pack’s enemy, the Wild Eight. Although she is innocent of any wrong doing, her ties to them make her the enemy. With all the commotion going on, she is able to free herself and runs only to bump into vampires and Colt. Colt has no idea who she is and assumes she is a Grey Wolf. When he finds her, she is stealing his horse.

The fight with the vampires left Colt seriously hurt and needing medical care. She can’t return him to the Missoula Grey Wolf Ranch after overhearing Lucas’ men discussing capturing Colt alive. They want to synthesize to be able to control the shifters, and eventually take over the world. With no other choice, she takes him to a Rogue House where she sets about healing him. Women are a weakness for Colt, bed them and leave, but Belle is setting off feelings he never expected.

I don’t want to go into too much detail in this review. Needless to say there is a lot going on and both Belle and Colt have secrets that, if revealed, could change their lives. As much as the two of them fall for each other, they know they have choices to make. Those choices are difficult, as they are don’t include them being together. This is the second book in a series that just gets better and better. I can’t wait for the next one. Vampires and shifters at war with each other, sex, romance, secrets, lies and surprises—what more could you want from a paranormal romance?
