Are the ghosts of Macy Lyons' past stronger than the promise of a future with her new lover?

Macy Lyons is a respected member of the wolf pack housed in an old Arizona tourist attraction. Her special Were abilities make her a good scout, and also enable her to see the ghosts that haunt the desert. When those ghosts lead her to a visiting lawman from another state, she must find out why...and if those ghosts have a hand in shaping her future.

Florida detective Logan Carter has chased a criminal all the way from Florida to Arizona, and now can use the help of the secretive wolf pack housed at Desperado to find the crazy werewolf he seeks. But will his attraction to Desperado's beautiful she-wolf scout be a help or a hindrance to his mission in a landscape so different from his own?

Macy Lyons lives in Arizona and is part of the Desperado pack. They got their name because they live at the Old Desperado Ghost Town, once a tourist attraction now the home for a werewolf pack. As the fastest she-wolf in her pack she earned the name Lightning Woman and she lives up to the name.

Macy has the ability to take wolf shape even without a full moon but that is just one of her secrets. Unlike the werewolves we are used to reading about, these wolves do not run on four legs; they are a mix of human and wolf.

Macy is on scouting patrol when she comes across a stranger, who is also a werewolf. Logan Carter is a detective from Florida who has been searching for a rogue who killed two people in front of humans risking exposure of the werewolves. He has followed him to Arizona and could use the Desperado pack’s help. Logan is from a big city and the desert might have been Mars because it was that huge and scary. He has been searching for Sanford from one state to another and is determined to bring him to justice.

When Macy and Logan saw each other there was an overwhelming attraction between them and Macy worked on that attraction later that night. Although the two of them realize that once the rogue is caught, he would return to Miami and her heart and soul belonged in the desert; they couldn’t control their feelings for each other. But in spite of the problems facing them their feelings for each other grow and separation might be the last thing they want, but Miami or Arizona?

First things first and finding and capturing Sanford is the first order of business especially when Logan and the pack discover that he is working with a vampire. Just as the werewolves are different from what we usually read, so are the vampires. They are not beautiful or intelligent; they are creatures who only live to feed and don’t even speak, but they are fast and deadly.

The hunt is on for Sanford and the vampire with him while Macy and Logan find it difficult to stay away from each other. This is definitely a book that would appeal to anyone who loves paranormal romance with shifters and vampires, sex, romance, amazing characters and surprises, it definitely checked all the boxes for me.
