Justine Fortin has lived in an abusive marriage, she supported Richard while he pursued his dreams while giving up her dream of painting, and constant cheating with his young impressionable students has finally pushed Justine to make a very serious decision, hire an assassin and once and for all get rid of Richard. She saved $50,000 the cost of an assassin and knew it would be the best use of the money she worked so hard to save.

Her meeting with Campbell was at a restaurant where they ate dinner and appeared like any other couple out for a date. He asked for the money and when received would know that she wanted to go on with the assassination. He required information, keys and had to prepare a way to make the killing appear to be an accident or suicide all while keeping Justine safe from suspicion. It was amazing to watch how Campbell went about planning the perfect and least suspicious way of bringing about the death of Justine’s abusive husband.

In spite of the fact that Campbell is a hired killer Justine can’t get him out of her mind her thoughts are not about fear but about sex. Campbell is a non-binary killer who has a painful past and killing is second nature to him but the fact that Justine shows no fear of him makes her very attractive to him and he is about to do something that is a total no for an assassin getting involved with a client.

Knowing that Campbell is making plans for Richard’s death is no problem for Janice but when she peeks into his computer and discovers that she was not the only one to hire him and that Richard was paying for her death she finally fears Campbell because whose contract will he honor. I don’t want to give too much away but I definitely was rooting for a HEA for Campbell and Janice and a painful goodbye for Richard.

Plotting a murder, very explicit sex and two wonderful main characters kept me glued to this book and I can’t wait for book two and the author was kind enough to give a sneak peek of what is coming.
