Tara Mason has just buried her mother Marisol and she is about to learn who she is and why her mother never spoke about her past. With encouragement from her step-father Matty she opened a locked box left by her mother and then proceeded to find the grandfather she never met. The box was full of letters written by her grandfather to his daughter all of which were never responded to.

Tara enters Malsum Pass where she knows her grandfather is and hopes that he is still alive. When she finds him she is shocked by how excited he is to meet the granddaughter he always prayed he would find. After he married he bought a new house but kept the home his daughter grew up in for the day she might come and hoped that she would want to live their permanently.

Before long Tara discovers who her father is and why her mother left Malsum Pass never to return again. She not only has a father, and a step-mother but she has three half-brothers. Once again she was thrilled by the welcome she got from her new family and the fact that her father embraced her telling her he loved her.

Everything is going well for Tara and she is considering living in Malsum Pass permanently and then she meets the neighbor, sexy, hot Riley Cooper. Her opinion of him is that he is an arrogant ass and there is no doubt that his opinion of her is quite the opposite. He hopes that she will be his mate. Everyone in the small town of Malsum Pass are shifters, her father, half-brothers, her grandfather and her neighbor Riley.

Tara is about to get the shock of her life when she discovers who and what she really is and why she never was told by her mother. In fact her mother did everything she could to ensure that Tara never shifted or knew what she was.

Tara is an amazing woman who is embraced by those around her, especially her family. She has a lot to learn and her family is willing to help her. She slowly changes her opinion of Riley but can’t imagine why she suddenly is falling in love with a man who she once thought of as arrogant and who she hardly knows. Why she feels the way she does about Riley is something else she has to learn about.

Loved this book and read it in one day. There wasn’t a lot of action or suspense or though there was some but the story didn’t need it, it just needed strong characters who you couldn’t help but fall in love with.
