‘Recipe For Love’ is the 24th book in the “Cat’s Paw Cove” series, and the first I ever read. Most likely it won’t be the last!

Devon, a showrunner, is deep in debt and desperately looking for a success story to pay his overdue rent, and by chance stumbles online over a wonderfully quirky ‘magical’ cooking show… his instincts tell him that this is going to be a hit! Not long after that, he is on his way to the FFRH (Feline Fine Retirement Home), where the show would be recorded, not knowing that the ‘magic’ was real, he would stumble right into far more excitement than he had signed up for, and the real cooking would be done by someone entirely different.

Karmen is the sous-chef at the Feline Fine Retirement Home and is responsible for the retirees during the host’s absence. When she finds out about Devon’s arrival and his plans, she can only hope to intervene and prevent the worst: that Devon’s TV Show would unveil the fact that true magic exists and the ‘FFRH’ is a retirement home to a very special kind of individuals.

When Devon finally arrives there is a lot of facts that end up to be surprises… one of them, that Devon is hot, the other one, that Karmen is sexy, two of them, that Devon didn’t come alone, which leads to all kinds of unexpected turmoil, and then we meet a whole lot of very helpful retirees, retirement residents, family members, family members of protagonists, and surprise visitors, and more surprises than it’s suitable for any cat; one of them Niles, who is a phenomenal feline, but how can he not be? After all, he is the feline supervisor of the kitchen!

Never forget the cats! They are essential in the story!

Now, I purposely left out any details about additional characters to avoid giving away too much of the story. I mainly mentioned the cats and the main protagonists, which I think is absolutely sufficient. I usually have a favorite character; in this book, it’s very, very hard to define that. First of all, I do have an author here who knows her craft. Her characters are well-developed, and the story plot and arc are just too good to point out one favorite. Even the protagonists progress at precisely the same speed and quality, making it impossible to compare them.

Both Devon and Karmen are strong characters, equally crucial to the story, and similarly balanced within the story arc, which makes the entire book so much fun to read. The side characters, be it retirement home residents, cats, visitors, family members, or whoever else we meet, have their ‘function’ and keep the story humorous, hilarious, made me laugh and giggle, and I never had even for once the feeling a character would go ‘on my nerve’, which most of the time happens, be it in a book, or a TV show, or a movie… not here!

‘Recipe For Love’ is not only a ‘little romantic quick read’… It’s more! It’s an entertaining, romantic, magically spiced, humor-sparkling story that I actually didn’t want to end! – And honestly? I wish I could meet these two again, somehow, somewhere!
