JJ Spritely, romance author, writes characters that jump off the page. Figuratively, that is. She never expects them to make a literal leap smack dab into her world. But Alex Zurich and Blake Teesdale do just that. And they’re on a mission to help JJ write her own personal love story with a man she recently met, Kennedy King Cooper.

A history professor, Cooper doesn’t see the value of romance novels and he has even less regard for those who write them. Until he meets a woman who haunts his thoughts.

There’s only one small snag in Alex’s and Blake’s plan…okay…two rather large snags. JJ wants nothing to do with Cooper. The other snag? Alex and Blake aren’t able to return to the pages of their own book.

Will JJ and Cooper write their own love story? And will Alex and Blake find their way back to their own world?

JJ Spritely writes romance novels giving her characters a HEA something she hasn’t experienced since her husband died four years ago. JJ was once a history professor but now she has relegated her life to working on giving HEA to her book characters. When two people appear in her office she is unaware of who they are until they give her their names. Blake Teesdale and Alex Zurich, the hero and heroine of the novel she is presently writing.

They have come to help JJ write her own love story and give her a life that is more than sitting in front of her computer. They know she met Professor Kennedy King Cooper at a book signing and are convinced he is going to be the love of her life, unfortunately their first meeting did not go well. Kenn met JJ in the history section of the bookstore and was very verbal in his dislike of romance writers and the people who read them. He had no idea who JJ was until a fan came to ask her for an autograph. His apology fell on deaf ears.

The next two times Kenn and JJ met, one at a café and one facing each other in her sister’s home, thanks to a little interference from Alex, Blake and the History Department secretary one worse than the other so Alex and Blake have their work cut out for them. When the history department chair asks JJ to fill in for a sick professor she immediately says no, knowing that she would be seeing Kenn all the time, no thank you. Her refusal would have worked if there weren’t some people working against her, Alex, Blake, Deb the secretary and the Chair himself. She didn’t have a prayer.

Not only is she back to her old office and teaching a few classes but day one she discovers that the first class is a team teach, her and yes you guessed it the pompous, ignorant man she can’t stop thinking about but still dislikes. It was this class that finally made Kenn and JJ see another side of themselves, and it was a side that finally got them talking and even considering dinner.

Alex and Blake sign up for their class, Blake joins the men’s pep squad and Alex joins the cheerleaders, they are making the most of their time in this new world but still want to go home. I can’t even describe the attempts they make at returning to their world but each one is a failure for them but a huge laugh for me.

This was such a unique story with amazing characters, Alex and Blake are two of the most loveable characters I have ever read and Kenn’s mom is a character, one minute you want to yell at her and the next you want to kiss her. Alex and Blake take their job of bringing JJ and Kenn together to the extreme and interfering in their lives means nothing to them.

I loved this book; it was so different and the characters the author wrote were amazing. I couldn’t help loving them all and found myself laughing at Blake and Alex’s antics, they have no pause button and just go from one crazy action to another.
