From the author of the supernatural suspense series Gifted (Healer, Connection) comes a new queer paranormal romance series.

Praise for Connection: "The romance element is complemented nicely by the relentless action and adventure throughout, creating an emotionally intense and page-turning narrative...A fast-paced and fun fusion of supernatural romance and mainstream thriller." ~Kirkus

Vampire Creed Lowell drifts from town to town working with the elderly as a night nurse and looking to avenge his harrowing past. His youth and vitality make him a favorite of his patients and his gifts bring them peace. At long last he’s arrived in the place where he hopes to find the truth about those who betrayed him…but first he finds an unexpected love with a man who might understand him—or end him.

Grad student Roman San Angelo is struggling to handle his courses, teaching schedule, and research for his dissertation on an obscure cult. He spends every spare moment with his beloved yet demanding grandmother Frances who’s recently moved to an assisted living facility—and he’s fascinated by her night nurse, who is able to bring out the inner light which had faded during her battle with dementia. Something about Creed doesn’t add up, however, Roman finds himself fighting an undeniable attraction. His concerns multiply when Roman discovers a connection between Creed and a bizarre series of vampire-wannabe assaults in the area. A moment of weakness leads to a night of passion between them, and the promise of something more, and yet Roman can’t shake his concern that Creed is not what he seems.

Creed knows better than to bring a mortal into his world, even one who could help him find the link between the pack of violent vampires preying on the people of Santa Cruz and Creed’s past. When he discovers Creed’s secret, Roman is ready to step outside his comfort zone and accept everything a life with a vampire entails, and when Creed disappears, Roman will go to the ends of the earth to find the man who brought the light back to his grandmother and the warmth back to his own heart.

I thought I had read every different way an author could write about vampires but I was wrong and this book proves it. Creed Lowell, vampire and nurse has gotten a job at Puesta Del Sol assisted living facility where he gives the patients in his care special attention resulting in major improvement in their conditions. He rarely takes blood but takes energy, their feelings of pain, love, sadness and any feeling that can give him the energy he requires. He returns what he takes with his ability to heal so no one gets hurt and all his patients love Nurse Creed.

Roman San Angel is working towards his degree in Psychology and Criminal Behavior and has just arrived back home from Spain where he was working on his dissertation and doctorate degree. He was studying cult behavior with various members of a religious group. When he decided he had learned whatever he could he returned home to Santa Cruz. He lived with his grandmother only grandma doesn’t live there anymore she is living in an assisted living facility, yes, the very one that Nurse Creed works in.

Roman feels betrayed and wants his grandmother home where he can care for her but she seems happy and her two sisters are there and Nurse Creed who she loves. He makes her happy, he makes her feel good and she seems to have more energy than Roman can remember her having. She is suffering from Alzheimer’s and of course the condition is associated with Sundowning where they have a shift in afternoon and evenings causing agitation. It is because of his grandmother moving into the facility that Roman met Creed and the attraction between them was instant. Roman wants more than friendship but Creed doesn’t want him involved in his life because he is seeking revenge over the death of his best friend.

Fifty-years ago Creed lived on the streets of San Francisco and became close friends with a girl named Muse who he loved. His love with not sexual since he was gay but he would do anything to protect her. When they are offered the opportunity to join a group with beds, food and safety he and Muse jumped at it. In time they would face the truth about this commune and “The Way” it was a truth that would change their lives forever. Creed a vampire and Muse dead. It was there that Creed learned about healing and using energy but he learned a lot he wasn’t prepared for.

As Creed and Roman become close Creed realizes that his enemies are closer than he thought and he has put Roman in danger. So much happens and I will not risk revealing any spoilers but I will say that there was a lot of excitement, suspense, sex, and amazing characters. I loved Creed and Roman. Roman’s grandmother and aunt and uncle who are police officers were amazing. Creed finds himself assisting the police when people are being attacked and bitten and he is sure he knows who is responsible.

I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait for the next one which hopefully will be soon.
