Running a 1,000-acre spread famous for the best Black Angus cattle in the great state of Texas is the biggest challenge he’s ever faced…until he meets a pert, pretty, and sassy ranch hand who seems to have her own agenda for his ranch. Unfortunately, she makes his spurs go jingle-jangle-jingle like no one else ever has!

Trish Owens is a real cowgirl, a loner, and, though she’d never admit it, a little lonely. When the “English Cowboy” appears on the scene, her entire way of life is threatened, not only her job, but her beloved Quarter horses. She’s sure he plans to import his thoroughbred horses from England. Worst of all is the chemistry sizzling between them. He makes feelings she thought long dead awaken.

At the age of twelve, Ash Colter’s life changed when his parents divorced and he and his mother moved to England. He left behind his father and his best friend, his horse King. His father was known as the baron of McLennan County, Texas and Texas stayed in his heart for the sixteen years he spent in England.

Ash was a successful horse trainer and he never returned to Texas until his mother notified him of his father’s death. Now preparing to return to Marathon Ranch which he hoped would be his he knew in his heart he would not be returning to England. At long last he was going home and the only fly in the ointment was his stepmother. His relationship with her was a bitter one from day one and he didn’t expect it to have changed. His only concern was if she had enough pull on his father that the ranch was left to her and not to him. Arriving at the ranch he knew in his heart he was home but until the will was read, he couldn’t be sure.

This ranch was his dream, a dream of raising horses as well as the cattle, and a dream of a winning racehorse and it all depended on his father’s will. It was on his first day that he me Trish Owens an employee whose love for the horses rivaled a mother’s love. Their first meeting was not very welcoming since she had no idea what his plans were for the ranch and the horses she loved.

Ash’s dream comes true when he discovers his father left the ranch to him and now, he has a huge responsibility running the ranch while realizing his dream of a winning racehorse. Trish and Ash bump heads over the kind of horses should be raised and her fear he will sell off the ones they now have. But what neither of them expected was for them to start having romantic feelings toward one another especially since they are totally different.

This was a sweet romance with a touch of an old time Western. Rustlers, in modern times and a story about two people whose love of horses brings them together.
