When we left off in The Blue Veil, Miranda was planning on going to New Mexico, now she is almost ready to return home refreshed after being away from Valadon and Remare. But distance doesn’t stop Valadon who can’t leave her alone and keeps calling, she keeps ignoring till she allows him entry into her mind while having sex. A powerful vampire now High Lord and centuries old and yet Miranda refuses to bow down to him, which might be the very reason he loves her.

On her return home she meets with Valadon who once again requests her help, this time authenticating a painting he is interested in buying and it is in Paris. Miranda suspects there is more to his request, but she accepts. Miranda should have listened to her inner voice because she will face the Madame Lord of Paris, Vivienna, who gives new meaning to evil. Orion and Bastien are assigned as her bodyguards but before she takes off, she visits Guy de Montglat (Blu) for any information he can give her and to ask him to remove a veil blocking a memory she is sure Remare put there.

Blu helps but we learn a monumental secret, well it was monumental to me and one I won’t reveal, sorry. It doesn’t take long before Miranda learns the truth of why she was sent to Paris, and it had nothing to do with authenticating a painting and everything to do with spying. The economy in Paris has caused the closing of banks and many on the Council are in financial difficulty and want Valadon to return to Europe and merge with them, something he will not even consider. His hope was for Miranda to learn who is conspiring against him.

When she meets Vivienna, she immediately knows she is dealing with danger and Vivienna is as interested in learning about Valadon as she is in learning about those on the Council. Fortunately for Miranda her Elemental powers are growing stronger and is the only reason she can leave Paris alive.

Back home Remare and Miranda are fighting their desire for each other and not being very successful.

While Valadon is still in love with Miranda, the discovery of Miranda and Remare, his second and best friend, would turn ValCorp upside down in addition to the unbelievable torture that Valadon would subject Remare to.

This book like the rest of this series is full of secrets, surprises, romance, sex, intrigue, betrayals and wonderful characters. When I think nothing can surprise me, it does and big time so I can’t wait to pick up book three and continue the adventure, because it is an adventure. The book ends with “WHAT” is going on and left me anxious to get answers. If paranormal romance with vampires is your cup of tea, then get ready to drink up because this is the series that has everything you could want, and all the books are available so there will be no waiting to get answers, the answers are just waiting for you to pick up the first book and keep going till the end, I know that is what I will be doing.
