Lucifer’s Landing is full of unscrupulous people: five families desperate to own every inch. For years, under the watchful and most powerful eye, there has been peace. With the murder of the most powerful man, it’s as if the gates of Hell have opened.

Dante Scavo is trying to fill his father’s shoes, find the person responsible for killing him, and stop Lucifer’s Landing from becoming a war zone. He has to focus, find out who the traitor among his ranks is, and end them. The last thing he needs is a distraction, but when he meets Rainn, one look, one touch, takes his breath away.

Rainn Blessings is no stranger to strong and powerful men. His life is about survival and getting to a place where he finds his peace, though sometimes that means being the fantasy of others. Working as a high-class escort he’s seen a lot…done a lot…and not much surprises him. Then Dante walks into The Magic Mirror and turns his world upside down.

With an unlikely ally, Rainn and Dante try to survive the storm, but no one is bulletproof or untouchable in the game of violent delights. Getting out unscathed is impossible; the question is: will they get out alive?

Upon discovering Davidson King going back a few years , it has been my extreme pleasure to begin with Haven Heart and than have subsequently purchased every thing that she has written to date! I have always been amazed at her topics, her ability to take an idea and make it a story and forming characters and write 200-400 pages that keep me invested.

Again this newest book begins with “the families” who I myself a born and bred Brooklyn girl, am quite familiar with this institution. The Gambino’s and Gotti’s were a way of life in the boroughs of NY….especially in the 50’s when I was a kid. But I digress….back to this review.

Mafia Bosses are a strange lot. They have no thought of killing someone for things we would think are irrelevant. A small slight can cost you your life, it’s all about how strong they are seen by their peers. They need to be feared. Family and children are cherished and protected.

So we learn who te families are, and get to hear about the Five Families living in Lucifer’s Landing. Dante Scavo is the son of the Italian Family who finds his father Mafia Boss has been murdered. The funeral is all about who will replace him, His brother or his son Dante.

Dante however is trying to do what’s expected of him and finds himself yearning for a different life. Enter Rainn Blessings. Rainn is working as a high class escort, so he is used to powerful men. Rainn has learned much in his short life on the streets and has a beautiful soul. Meeting Dante will change both of their lives.

The subterfuge and hard hitting story of trying to contain a bloodbath among the Five families. Dante has to find the mole in his family and now falling in love/lust with Rainn has Dante reaching out to Ren one of Dante’s oldest childhood friends. Ren happens to be the leader of the Ikeda Family.

Davidson has set the reader up for a page turner. This was fast paste, hard hitting, with much going on with every page. I must express the relationship forming between Rainn and Dante shows Dante’s worth. This was everything a good shoot ’em up book should be….Great side characters

I am soooo wanting book two Now, and by the reviews….We all say that.
