Named after the Norse God of the Sea, Njörd grew up sailing, swimming, and fishing the fjords of Norway. Endowed with extraordinary senses, speed, and strength, he became known as Wolf of the Nordic Seas, leading lucrative Viking raids from the Baltic shores to the Black and Caspian Seas. When a Viking völva foretells his future through a seidr vision, Njörd learns that his fate and his mate—the siren with the sea goddess eyes—lie on the alabaster coast of Normandy in the distant Land of the White Chalk Cliffs.

Elfi Thorfinnsdóttir is a skilled shieldmaiden who seeks vengeance against the ruthless Frankish count who killed her brother and abducted her father in an attempt to seize her clifftop castle. But rather that submit to the count’s relentless demand for her hand in marriage, Elfi allies with Richard the Fearless—the Viking Duke of Normandy— and the Danish Jarl of Ribe known as the Wolf of the Nordic Seas.

As Elfi and Njörd discover startling secrets about their respective pasts, they find that the three Norns have entwined the threads of their fates not just as political allies, but as mates destined to fulfill a divine prophecy.

Wolf of the Nordic Seas— book 2 of the Valiant Vikings series set in tenth century Normandy— is a sizzling, scintillating blend of historical fiction, Norse mythology, paranormal fantasy, and steamy Viking romance!

A battle took place with the Franks, led by the Count of Soissons. Despite significant losses, the Franks were defeated. However, Lord Thorfinn was captured, and his daughter Elfie is now the ransom for his release. With the Count marrying Elfie he would be the Lord of le Chateau Blanc giving the Franks a large advantage.
Efie, unable to fight despite her brother’s training due to her father’s orders wishes to avenge Dag’s death by the Franks. Elfie calls for assistance, which brings many warriors to defend le Chateau Blanc. It is decided that she should be betrothed to Njord the Danish jarl of Ribe. Njord is known at the Wolf of the Nordic Seas and although Elfie is not happy to be put in the position of an arranged marriage it is the only hope to save her father.
Njord arrived with hundreds of warriors and ships, and upon seeing his betrothed, Elfie feels a strong connection with Njord, her betrothed. Njord and his men help rebuild the castle, support widows, and harvest crops. Njord’s arrival is a blessing, and he and Elfie look forward to their marriage.
With all the warriors a message is sent to the Count to release Elfie’s father and return her dead brother’s Elfin sword. With Dag gone Elfie has no one to practice her sword fighting with but Njord is happy to train her with a sword, knife and bow. Now she can become the shieldmaiden she always dreamed of.
As repairs unfold and new marriages approach, Elfie and Njord uncover their pasts and futures. A stonecutter named Bodo, despite his limp, will teach Njord about his identity, his father, and a prophecy. He has the blood of the wolf and joins the Ulfhednar who can shift into a wolf. His father was the leader until he was killed. He discovers his true mother has his father’s elfin sword which Njord must get.
Elfie discovers that she has the spirit of the mermaids and must learn from the mermaids with Lugh’s help. Lugh, an elf, will escort her to their location and create weapons to protect her from dark elves and the troll who are deadly.
Unfortunately, while busy with rebuilding Count Soissons and his king are planning ways to still ensure the marriage between the Count and Elfie and destroying the Vikings. They are working with the dark elves and the troll and are not willing to just pack up and leave until they get what they want.
The book is set in the region of Pays de Caux filled with fighting and filled with secrets and surprises. Elfie and Njord are wonderful and are the hope of bringing about the end of the Franks once and for all.
The book ended in a cliffhanger so there are many unanswered questions but more suspense, secrets and surprises to come.
