Fun with S. C. Principale:
Award-winning author S.C. Principale believes in writing stories she wants to read, which is why she writes thrillers, mysteries, and steamy paranormal romances. Her stories are filled with strong, sassy heroines and the unique, often otherworldly men who love them.
She lives in historic Chester County, Pennsylvania, where haunted battlegrounds serve as never-ending inspiration. S.C. is a self-proclaimed history nerd, following old mysteries, baking, and leading theater and musical groups. Her home life consists of scrounging space for her laptop without tripping over two kids, two dogs, a mischievous chinchilla, and the most patient, sexy husband in the world.
S.C. Principale is proud to branch out from writing paranormal romance and turn her hand to romantic suspense with the fabulous Sisters of Sin series, a shared world of femme fatale assassins delivering justice when no one else can. It’s an honor to work with Sofia Aves, Lolo Paige, T. Wells Brown, D.A. Nelson, Michelle Ventura, and Heather Osborne–an international group spanning three continents, but sisterhood, writing, and general sassy goodness brought them together!
Favorite Books that I Wrote:
Pale Girl https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09BBRY44S
I’m most proud of writing this book because it’s a full-standalone novel, not part of a series, and it deals with some real issues, such as infertility, bullying, adoption, and finding love despite “disabilities.” It also showcased an interracial adoptive family, which is what my family is.
CrossRealms: You an’ Me Against the World https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R235V9J
I’m so proud of this one because of the world-building and elements of government and military covert ops that are woven through the paranormal romance. It’s a long book, but all of its moving parts gel.
CrossRealms: Healing Hope https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09N8P378C
This story turns the general romance tropes on their heads. It follows a cynical, hard woman named Hope, who was hand-picked to be one of the good guys but seduced with power and her own insecurity into becoming one of the bad guys. Malcolm, our mild-mannered stuffed-shirt hero is the one who still believes she can be redeemed. It’s a story of forgiveness and healing. It’s also an enemies-to-friends-to-lovers tale with a road trip and demons thrown in. Basically, it’s a buffet, and I’m here for it!
It’s Business, Baby https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09N8P378C
It’s hard for me to write contemporary without wanting to throw in a little paranormal romance, but I did it! I created a snarky, business-focused heroine who has no time for pleasure in her life. Until Marco Mercado, a textile supplier, ends up on Benni Browne’s fashionista radar. I love this one because it has steam and snark, but it also has a diverse cast with a female lead who is African American and a male lead who is Latino. Additionally, the heroine is in her late thirties and she’s plus sized, so this story is in my mature and curvy romance line. I think love should come in all ages, stages, sizes, and shapes! It’s important to me to make sure my daughter will be able to find herself in any genre when she grows up, (even though I wouldn’t necessarily want her to read THIS book because of all the smut!)
Chocolate Krinkles and Two Kris Kringles: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09NRTDNX2
This book makes me happy whenever I read it because it has two couples falling in love. One couple is in their forties, a widower and a busy divorcee who hasn’t looked at men in years. She’s a busy nurse and her priority is taking care of her daughter even if her daughter is in college. I think a lot of older adult women can relate to that. On the other hand, you have Sammi, who is in college, but who doesn’t have a sweetheart near Christmas time and is pretty sure she’s never going to get one because she doesn’t fit the typical pretty college girl mold. This is my first Christmas story, it has love at all ages, and it’s quite a rom-com. I love it and I’d love to write more rom-coms after this!
Favorite Books by People who Aren’t Me.
Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie
This is my hands-down go-to book when I need a mystery. I won’t spoil it for you, but the ending gets me every time. It’s also a book that I think is beautifully written, with all the clues working together without too many inexplicable leaps.
The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
I resisted reading this series growing up because I thought it was a trend, and I was the girl who refused to read things just because they were popular. When I finally did read it, it burrowed its way into my heart. I can relate to so many of the characters and they’ve become such dear, wonderful friends. My house (and my classroom) are unashamedly full of fandom stuff!
84 Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff
This was one of my grandmother’s favorite books. We read it together. She was a World War II Navy hero, and my family is half-American, half-British. Reading this story of a friendship blooming over a love of books and trying to help people during the time of rationing in the post-war era dug this book into my heart for literary and personal reasons.
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
I started reading this book when I was in 4th grade, I believe. I read it over and over again as I got older to keep understanding more and more. I think it touched me on such a deep level because the outstanding injustice didn’t need to be fully understood, it was just incredibly obvious. It is one of those books that makes you change as a person and a reader.
Please Don’t Eat the Daisies by Jean Kerr
Again, a book inspired by my bookworm grandmother. This book of a literary woman and her struggles with motherhood and daily life resonated even before I had kids. It’s hard being the tallest, fattest girl in the room, and if you’re brainy on top of it… ugh, good luck. That USED to be the way women thought of themselves. I love that things are changing, and I love Jean Kerr for making us laugh while we waited.
