Choosing the right gift for that special someone can be the most daunting part of the holidays. In a sea of mass-produced items, why buy when you can DIY? The end-of-the-year festivities are the best time for crafts, whether they’re made from yarn, paper, flour, or even code. And with some love and luck, these special presents might inspire a romance that lasts an evening… or a lifetime. Nothing makes the season merry and bright like a gift handmade from the heart, and to bring smiles to the faces of the ones they care about, these guys are willing to get creative.

Piecing Together His Life: Jon Keys: 4****Stars
When Colin’s mother died he was left a quilt she was working on leaving it to him to find someone to finish it. Heading to his cottage in Finger Lakes he runs into a blizzard that sends his car careening into an embankment only he was lucky since the car behind him was an EMT. Mason takes Colin to his home until it is safe to return to his car and then they separate. Colin still searches for someone to finish his mother’s work and the search leads him right back to his rescuer Mason. Mason does incredible quilts only he has no confidence in them and refuses to sell them or exhibit them. He also flatly refuses to finish Colin’s quilt for fear he would not do it justice. As the men spend more time together Colin has to fight to get Mason to see what everyone else sees when they look at his work, that his work is exceptional. It would be the greatest gift if Mason would finish Colin’s quilt but does he.

This was a beautiful story about taking something loved and lost and giving it a new life. Alvin Griffin and his partner Milo Abernathy love each other and December 6th, St. Nick’s Day is their favorite day of the year. This year Milo has made a very special gift for the man he loves a gift made from an old oak tree. When they bought their home there was an old oak tree which Milo carved their initials in, an oak tree that would not survive a bitter storm. What made the music box so very special was so heart warming and I am sure you will love it as much as I did.
