Every review has a story behind it and this one is no different. I was on Facebook and one of my go to authors posted a New Release book for an author friend….I happened to read the blurb and decided to ask for a copy to review. I think that was Wednesday. The author kindly sent me the Arc on Thursday. Today is Saturday…..The book having over 500 pages has me staring at my blank screen to unscramble my eyes and thoughts to tell you A MUST READ !1
LET ME BEGIN WITH…..Genre Fantasy, Fiction, MM Romance, Sorta Dom/Sub ….great plot, great World Building and Book One of a new Series…..
Tai Xen- Vorsey is a shape shifter, trying to live a quiet life with his cat Estrel after enduring a very horrific childhood. He haunts the local clubs; is single after a break up with his last submissive. Tonight Tai is at Shifting Sanctuary, one of the best clubs in Keikei City. Tonight is the Faerie Ball and entering the club, one of his ‘brothers” part owner of the club, Rachet offers him some information to go and ‘Check the Exhibitions’ second room in particular in the next building.
Stunned, he found ‘a gorgeous face, peering at him under the glow of fairy lights, the guy on the swing might just have been naked: there wasn’t much to his shorts and his black ankle boots’ ……and elusive Butterfly. Gates Colfaethe……. mostly unicorn shifter with a splash of Faerie was there for the taking……..So it seemed like it would be a Dom/Sub story in a different world story, BUT this author had so much more to offer us…..
The Callensdale Haven was Tai’s refuge as an orphan, both his parents killed, was a hideaway that saved his life. His magic now sees it being attacked and going up in flames……The family there needs help. Tai set upon the task for himself to get the “Brothers of his heart” back together and save their family. Meeting Gates was bad timing yet he asked him to join him in finding the ‘boys’ and getting the Fluff Brigade Brotherhood back together.
This is not an easy read, but our author helps us to discern who the brothers are, where they are, and what is expected of them. The backdrop is a Fantasy land, with wonderful cities and countryside and lakes with shifters, and all creatures of the fantasy world having magic and wizards and mages; Queens and pixies.
The POV of both Tai and Gates is extraordinarily helpful filling in for us their thoughts and fears, working so hard to not only be Dom and Sub but true lovers. As you can see this author worked hard to have the reader take in what her thought process is, for us to follow the Brotherhood where ever it takes us…….and I am ready! I hear Book #2 is in the works and Rachet is up next…..We have so many Brothers we will have a great series to look forward too…..
