Another good story of love found in a small Southern town. Crawford City not far from the bright lights of Nashville . This is where this series is set. You know the type of town, one family doctor, a main street that is walking close for some. It has a Bakery, Family Restaurant, Ice Cream Store, Hardware Store and a Sherriff. Crawford City is LGBTQ friendly and if it were a real town I would venture everyone would want to live there.
I have come to enjoy stories from this author! Blake Allwood is a chameleon wearing different hats and in his Blake Allwood nom du plume I have read some really fun MM love stories. Since this series invites you to meet new couples and how they meet, share their lives and see them fall in love, you also can settle in with a Tall Sweet Tea and enjoy.
We are familiar with Allen and Gib’s story and they are back front and center when Allen’s younger step-brother Lance comes to town. Their father was married to Allen’s mom, they divorced and he married again and had Lance. The man was a famous NYC doctor, and we remember him trying to force Allen into not going to a small practice to the point of hurting that relationship; so it is not a surprise to the reader that he was doing worse to Lance.
Lance and Allen were almost strangers. But Allen was desperate. He too was forced into being a Dr. and was miserable. He wanted to be an architect and now it was do what Dad wanted or drop out of the Medical School or follow his dreams. He told his dad he dropped out of Medical School and his father blocked his bank accounts, credit cards and other assets; he was penniless. He needed help and his only half brother.
Jake is the product of a religious zealot father who threw his young son out , because he was gay. living on the streets until he was lucky and got two gay Moms who took him in to foster. He has worked his way up, made lots of money and is now faced with hearing from his Mom’s (Who live in Crawford )that they think one of his much younger siblings was thrown out and ‘in the system’ and possibly for the same reason he was.
There are lot of moving parts here, Lance meeting Jake, Lance and Allen finding a way to be real brothers. Jake following up on finding out if the boy is his brother and his acceptance of taking him in. Blake smoothly gives us a story that has all the Yeah! Feels…..I love this series ad their is still more coming.
