Quinton Jackson is involved in a high-speed car chase and when he is stopped by State Trooper Wyatt Nelson, he could never have imagined how it would change his life. Quinton is chasing another car containing his three-month-old son, Callum who was left in the car while his mother was busy with a neighbor.
Quinton has a record; he made many mistakes in his youth thanks to an upbringing lacking in any parental love or care. The biggest mistake he made was trying to be normal according to his mother and sleeping one time with a woman, a woman who gave him his greatest gift, his son. Now custody of his son is on the line because of her neglect and his hope is to get custody in spite of his past.
It is with the help of the very trooper that came to his rescue when Callum was kidnapped that he has a chance of realizing his dream of having his son full time. Wyatt was attracted to Quinton from the time he saw him and he can see the devotion he has for his son. Wyatt has secrets of his own from his past and believes that a person can change especially a man now working, caring for his son and determined not to repeat past mistakes for his son’s sake. Callum deserves the life Quinton didn’t have and is convinced Jennifer is incapable of giving him a good life.
As Wyatt and Quinton grow close and Wyatt finds himself falling in love with little Callum a case comes to light that could put a spotlight on Quinton and his past jeopardizing his chances of gaining custody of his son. Jennifer is in trouble because of her neglect and endangering her son but she is determined to cause as much trouble for Quinton as she can but doesn’t take into account that he has a trooper on his side.
Another amazing visit to Carlisle, Pa. and another amazing couple looking for love. Of course, I personally know someone who made mistakes and is trying to walk the straight and narrow but sometimes a mistake hangs over your head forever. Quinton needs to prove himself and remove himself from anything that could be construed as wrong. A mother who doesn’t deserve to raise a child, a man trying to correct past mistakes and a precious little boy caught in the middle.
Another amazing book by one of my favorite authors and of course I read it in one sitting like every other book Mr. Grey has written. If you are familiar with his writings then you know there are other Carlisle series and if you are not familiar with him then you have a lot of catching up to do, lucky you.
