Freyr and Freyja believe the time finally has come to return to Asgard with Lia and Will by their sides, offer Yggdrasill’s fruit to Lia, and welcome her to their family. But Lia’s tasks aren’t complete. If the Norse gods are to have any hope of prevailing in Ragnarök — if Freyr is to have any chance of escaping the Norns’ prophecy and sharing a life with Lia in the days after — Lia must wait. Even the dragons who have vowed to join the gods in that final battle won’t be enough to save all of their lives. As Will’s unusual intuition evolves into the ability to see distant people and places, he realizes what they must do and where they must go before they face Ragnarök. The group takes one last journey through the worlds below in a dangerous and daring attempt to destroy Freyr’s greatest enemy before this most evil of the giants can join his brethren in the war they soon will wage against the gods on Earth’s surface. If Freyr and Lia can prevail in the tasks they must face, they may pave the way for the life they both want but have never let themselves believe might be possible.

The thrilling cycle of the Road To Ragnarok comes to an end with the book Heavy Heart. From the beginning in Book 1, Lost Long, the story of the relationship between the human doctor, Lia and the Norse God Freya has been literally to Hellheim and back as Freya and his sister and husband, Freyja and Will try to get to Asgard and Odinn.
Chasing them is Loki and Thor and Loki’s minions, and Lia’s ex-boyfriend, Jonathan, who is much more than he seemed. Freya and Lia want to wed but they cannot until they get to the final battle of the Norse saga, Ragnarok, and defeat the forces that seek to subjugate the Midgard, or Earth. Lia needs to eat of the World Tree, Yggdrisill, but cannot until her mission to save Midgard is finished. The couple fight to stay together while trying to stay alive. Whether they get to Asgard and Odinn will depend on the strength and resolve that Lia, the chosen, can gather as the world hurdles toward the final battle.
Heavy Heart is a very worthy ending to the Road to Ragnarok saga. Author Rochelle Wilcox has crafted the storyline carried through all 4 books with a masterful story crossing multiple plots. And having studied some of the saga of the Norse mythology, this story weaves the additional characters of Lia, Will, and others seamlessly, they weren’t in the old Norse story, but should have been.
I can say that Road to Ragnarok has been a great series to read, with a story that will make me smile (and re-read it) again and again.
