Immortal Blood Knight, Kellan Ladd has spent centuries waiting to find the one person who can end his immortality and that quest has brought him to Seattle, Washington. Kellan is one of seven immortals protecting humans from the monsters they have no idea exist. The Blood Knights were originally expected to protect holy relics such as the Grail and Christ’s chalice all of which are now safe leaving them to fight the creatures of the night.
Kellan felt his Reaper, the one that would bring his death and it led to Seattle, but the big question, would he find her. Noone in the Brotherhood is aware of his present mission since the Blood Knights were never to find their Reapers. Once he found her, he would have to take her soul, an ancient soul that resides in her body and has no idea if he would finally die and if he would cause her death as well.
McKenna Randall is an R.N. who suffers from nightmares of the night she was shot in the head, nearly died and had to give up her career as a police officer. She works in the E.R. pushing herself to the point of total exhaustion and one night she was so spent she could hardly walk to her car. That was when she saw a handsome man dressed in leather and sitting on a Harley and she was so drawn to him that she couldn’t resist walking over to him. Kellan felt the connection and was wondering if he had met his Reaper. What were the chances of him arriving in Seattle and finding her so quickly.
McKenna was unable to get herself home so she accepted help from a total stranger and wanted to spend the night with him. The attraction between the two of them was off the charts. It didn’t take long before Kellan realized that McKenna was the one but his attention towards her brought vampires to her door putting her life in danger and if she died Kellan would have an eternity ahead of him because there was no other that could help him end his life.
As vampires keep appearing endangering McKenna’s life and as Kellan protects her it just brings more vampires determined to get to her. Being an ex-cop McKenna insists she is quite capable of protecting herself but she has no idea who the enemy is and her gun would not be a help to her. As Kellan spends more time with her, he realizes that if ending his life would end hers, he isn’t sure he could go through with it.
This is the fourth book I have read in the series and each book is a standalone. If you are a lover of paranormal romance then this series has it all, romance, sex, vampires, surprises, secrets and I only just touched on what happens to McKenna and Kellan because there is so much more. If you start this series with this book or with book one, I have no doubt you will rush to read the rest. Seven Blood Knights and I have only been privileged to read four so there is more coming and I can’t wait. I have one word to describe this series WOW.
