When a case reopens old wounds from the kidnapping of his younger sister, police officer Robert Fenner is told in no uncertain terms that he needs a break. And maybe his superiors are right. He books a flight to visit an old friend, who happens to be the one who got away, and hopes for the best.
Electronic security consultant Dixie Halewood works from his home in Paris, where he lives with his adopted son, Henri. Dixie doesn’t expect a message from an old flame asking for a place to stay, but he agrees. Their past is just that—the past.
Things between them aren’t as settled as they thought—Henri, Paris, and proximity work their magic. The two men are drawn closer and old flames burst back to life, but Dixie’s work brings a new threat to their safety and the budding family they missed out on the first time around.

Robert Fenner finds himself working a case that hits very close to home. A little six-year-old girl has been kidnapped just like his little sister Holly only Holly didn’t survive and this little girl although shot is alive. Robert’s captain has decided that he needs a vacation and is unwilling to accept anything less than three weeks.
Robert contacted two of his military buddies but neither of them were available and left Dixie Halewood the one he had a relationship with seven years ago and never forgot. When the military sent Robert and Dixie off to separate areas of the world they never tried to reconnect and now Dixie is living in Paris and can’t wait to welcome Robert to his home thrilled to have Robert meet Henri who will be his guide to all things Paris has to offer so Dixie has a husband and reconnecting is out of the question.
When Robert meets Henri, he finds himself face to face with a six-year-old boy with a short leg and a short arm but with an infectious personality. Labeled unadoptable Henri found love with Dixie who only saw a smart loving little boy. Henri is determined to be the best tour guide no Mona Lisa, she is too small and the booby lady and the moms and babies are more fun.
Dixie is working for the government and his work has put Henri in danger but Dixie is hopeful that Robert can supply some added security. Robert and Dixie find themselves rekindling their relationship and Henri is very accepting of their having gay sex only who has the babies when the time comes. Henri is the most amazing character who won my heart with his smarts and enormous ability to love in spite of the horror of being labeled unadoptable.
The three weeks’ vacation is coming to an end and once again Dixie and Robert have a decision to make but will they finally make the right one but, in the end, will they unite for Henri. Andrew, you have written the most amazing character written with love and I couldn’t get enough of this little boy with a heart as big as Paris itself.
