Nate Cloverdale’s life was organized to the Nth degree. From the time he woke until the time he went to bed, promptly at midnight. He knew what his day would entail from start to finish.

Relationships would fail, his bar would not and with that attitude it was no wonder his grouchy ass remained unattached.

Kit, no last name, and not because he was famous, but because he was the son of free-spirited parents who felt surnames didn’t define you. Thankfully, they didn’t feel the same about a first. Growing up in a commune full of like-minded adults, he couldn’t wait to get out and explore the world.

Hitchhiking between towns, he never stayed in longer than a couple of months. This trip landed Kit in Foggy Basin. A quick glance around the local businesses, Kit knew odds were he’d find work and stay for a bit while he saved up enough to move on.

Pints ‘n Pool is an opposites attract, grumpy-sunshine tale of two men who were so wrong for each other that they couldn’t be more right. Hopefully, they pull their heads out of their asses before it’s too late.

Welcome to Foggy Basin. Just passing through? No problem. Here to stay, well, better find your place. Sit back, relax and get to know the townsfolk. They love hard and play even harder. Each book is a standalone but why not stay and get to know us and read them all.

Nate Cloverdale owns Pints ‘n Pool, a bar with rooms to rent during the summer and all free and clear. Winter is slow but the summer brings loads of tourists and money. When a young man comes into the bar asking for work Nate is immediately drawn to him and offers him a job.

Kit grew up in a commune, his parents’ free thinkers who did not believe in surnames, so of course, Kit had none, and midwives delivered babies and birth certificates were another thing Kit was missing. Although Nate knew that things would be difficult without certain things that everyone was expected to have, he would do whatever he had to do to make things right for the young man who woke up his heart after so many years alone.

Kit is twenty-two to Nate’s thirty-five but despite the age difference there was an instant bond between the two of them and for the first time Kit was not even thinking about moving on. The two men fit the saying “opposites attract” because they are as opposite as the sun and the moon. They work well together and when Kit accidentally refers to Nate as daddy, the name sticks.

When Nate and Kit’s budding romance becomes town news business suddenly picks up with everyone wanting to be witness to what is happening. It is obvious that this small town is hungry for any gossip and Nate and Kit fit the bill for now.

Fortunately, Nate is not one to keep his feelings hidden and Kit knows immediately where he stands. Kit follows Nate’s thinking and isn’t shy about revealing his feelings, so they are off to a very promising start.

When Nate wants to buy something for Kit something Kit isn’t happy about spending Nate’s money on Nate uses the “daddy” card. Every day their relationship grows but there are obstacles i.e. no birth certificate, no last name, no social security card and Kit has been wandering the country for several years so how long before the call of the road beckons.
This was a very fast-moving love story, but I had one date with my husband of sixty-one years, so I am a firm believer in love at first sight and knowing when you meet the “one”.

I recommend this book. It is part of the Foggy Basin series, each book a standalone but a series about a small town and after reading about some of its inhabitants an interesting place to visit. The books are by different authors so another plus.
