I was so happily surprised hearing Jordan was releasing their second book in this series…..I went to Amazon and read my review of Book #1 The Forgotten Dead to brush up…..
My review did make me smile as I re-imagined the fear I radiated in discussing it. So catching up on our group was instantaneous. Remembering how the group was formed all came back immediately. Dr, Nigel Taylor found himself in a predicament. Working as a Parapsychologist, his funding was running dry. He is coerced by a very rich elderly woman to who says she will fund him a large stipend of grant money if he will work with a young man who she feels has a ‘gift’.
Oscar Fox is the person she thinks is gifted. He has founded a group of ghost hunters and they are called Outfoxing The Paranormal. Oscar has been haunted since he was a child…His grandmother dying in an insane asylum. So when he was a child mentioning any oddity to his father, brought such anger and humiliation upon him, scaring Oscar that he was going to die like his grandmother and to stifle these feelings. The two men met and Oscar was wary, but he agreed to work with Dr. Taylor.
This book takes off where we left off, Oscar and Nigel’s relationship is still new, but strong. The now four in Out Foxing the Paranormal are driving to the small town where Oscar grew up to spend the Christmas holidays with Oscars mom and dad. Oscar now has realized all the feelings he’s had as a child were stunted and buried by his father Scott. Spending a few days there digging into his heritage with is ghost buster gang and his boyfriend would be an adventure…..
Okay, must do a WARNING: If angry woman ghost with a chip on her shoulder might scare the bejesus out of you; after she has killed many…..you might rethink !
But for me, I was so pleased Oscar finally had his moment, to know he was true to himself. Nigel and the gang were so wonderful and my sweaty hands and heart survived another wonderful creepy, scary, story!!! Jordan couldn’t put it down…Read in one sitting!! Truly a great mystery and what a great backdrop to tell it. AGAIN 5 stars
