When Jake Evans almost dies due to Dan Rogers' showboating during an undercover operation, he loses any trust he had in the man who had been his partner both on jobs for the Firm and in their personal life. Once he's healed, he quits the Firm and opens a private investigation agency.
The two men are thrown together when Fairfax, Dan's superior at the Firm, brings Jake in to help stop a child trafficking ring. The mission might be successfully completed but the tension between the two men still remains.
Dan needs to convince Jake there was a reason behind what he did, beyond stopping the gang they were after. The problem is, he has to make Jake listen to him and believe what he says, because even after a year apart he still loves Jake. With that in mind, he follows when Jake goes out of town in search of a missing young man.
Will Dan succeed, or is Jake's trust in him irrevocably broken?

Yippee….I finally was able to grab first an Edward Kendrick submission before any of our reviewers saw it….and of course requested it.
This Novella made me see why this author’s books sent to us for review are grabbed so quickly. Regaining His Trust has all the bells and whistles a novella should have. It has a great story, lovers who have had a bad breakup, who still think about ‘what if’
Jake Evans and Dan Rogers worked well together, undercover for an entity called The Firm. They also had become good friends outside of work, and then friends with benefits. Then the feelings began to grow.
Working on a dangerous Child Trafficking Porn Ring was taking its toll on them both, waiting for the case to break being on watch day and night for weeks, running to months.
Dan thought he had a great idea. He missed spending time with Jake and sitting in cars on watch. So he thought he could sneak into an office during the meeting of the gang they were targeting and some one saw him causing a shoot out. Jake was almost killed and rushed to the hospital. Hs anger at Dan for dong what he did made him think that Dan was trying to get kudos from his boss for making this stupid move to grandstand. They never spoke, Jake quit The Firm and opened his own PI Business.
So the Bromance was over….But cupid had other ideas.
I loved Kendrick’s writing style, his characters came to life over the pages. Don’t want to spoil the rest…..Good read!
