Another amazing addition to this series but if you haven’t read the first two books I highly recommend doing so. Book one, The Stone of Love is Brielle and Colin’s story, book two
Stone of Fear is Marie and John’s story and now we have Ainslie MacDougall’s story, Colin’s sister.
Ainslie has loved anything Viking and has practiced all her life in Viking fighting. All she is concerned about is her chance at fighting in a Viking reenactment until word comes that Bree is missing. Tony, Bree’s ex has showed up in the States where Bree is on tour. He is obsessed with Bree, but he is not the only one because Balor, an evil fae who has escaped from his imprisonment has lusted after Bree since he first saw her.
Balor becomes part of Tony so now a psychopath and an evil fae are living in the same body and both are a danger to Bree who is now their prisoner. Balor is able to bring them all to the portal and when Ainslie sees Bree, she holds on to her hoping to keep her from going through. When Ainslie tries to save Bree, she is hit and falls to the ground. When she wakes, she is bound and surrounded by Vikings the leader the man she dreamed of.
Now she must convince Jarl, Rannick MacRaghnaill that she is from the future and is not responsible for stealing his ship. She also asks to see Dougal MacDougall, her relative, hoping that by whispering the secret of the stones to him he will accept she is a relative from the future.
Ainslie knew enough about the family to be believed and now she begs for help in saving Bree. Colin arrives and is anxious to begin searching for his true love, but Dougal convinces him to wait for word from his men as where to begin the search. Ainslie and Rannick have an immediate connection, a connection that turns quickly into more. Ainslie is in the twelfth century surrounded by Vikings, which is her dream.
Bree is suffering and knows that Colin will come looking for her but wonders what will be left to rescue. Beaten, raped, starved and feeling ruined and worthless. Every book in this series involves characters that are important to this series which is why the first two books should be read first, each taking the reader to another time.
The MacDougall family has been given the responsibility of protecting the stones to keep them safe from the evil fae but the good fae manage to keep the family uninformed about so much that they are always on their own trying to figure things out.
Love this series, I open the book and don’t close it till it says, “the end”.
