Do the police have protocols for dealing with a vampire? Apparently not, for they are unable to hold Zane. What no one knows is that he controls people with his mind. Now there is only one way to protect Sophia from him - the slayer will have to do his job.
After losing her baby, Sophia returned to her childhood home outside of the city to heal herself. Before he leaves on a three-month mission, Jared, her baby's father, secures Sophia's safety when he is not there to protect her. Despite the precautions, Zane manages to find her, alone and far from the city. She is in mortal danger, until the slayer comes to the rescue.
But vampires aren't real. A person behaving like one has to be delusional, right? As such, the slayer can't kill him as a vampire, unless he does something wrong.
With Jared out of the way, Sophia returns to her life in the city. Not surprisingly, Zane re-adjusts his plans. He makes Sophia believe he is the Zane she had fallen in love with again. What she doesn't realize, is that he has her firmly in his thrall - she even agrees to 'marry' him before Jared is due to return from his mission.
But what exactly does Zane mean by the word marriage? What does he have in store for Sophia? Why isn't anyone doing anything to help her?

The story continues, a story that began in book one and should be read first. Sophia miscarried and decided to leave the hospital without notifying anyone. She has gone to find a way to deal with her loss and to remove herself from Jared and Zane. The only one she revealed her location to is her best friend Rowena with a promise to keep her secret. Rowena revealed to Jared where Sophia was fearing for her mental and physical health.
Zane has no problem getting the information he needs from Rowena; he beat her and fed from her and now Sophia’s secret location is not a secret anymore. Zane has decided that Rowena will be his new pantry, with her new dog and bow and arrow Lyle is no longer safe for him. Poor Sophia is now unable to stay where she is and her desire for peace no longer exists.
Jared must leave on a mission and will be gone for three months and does everything in his power to ensure Sophia’s safety. The usual people are involved, Lyle, Zane’s twin, Meredith Zane’s mom, the vampire hunter and Murdock the reporter who has fallen in love with Lyle. Sophia still has her head up her behind and can’t accept that Jared loves her and still won’t accept that Zane the man she once loved is a vampire and killer.
Despite Sophia’s reluctance to accept Jared into her life she can’t resist one more night with him. Stubborn to the n’ degree Sophia decides to return to her home even though Zane makes himself a constant threat, a threat everyone recognizes but her. With his ability to control minds Zane convinces Sophia that she still loves him and that they will get married.
Preparing for her wedding and convinced Zane is the man she loves she is blind to his controlling ways believing that it is due to the anxiety of the wedding. It doesn’t matter that when she kisses Zane it is Jared’s face she sees, or that she feels nothing when he holds her, she will not cancel the wedding. Her stupidity made me want to scream but there is always hope she will wake up and see who she really belongs to.
The vampire hunter is no help, every time he captures Zane, Zane uses his gift of mind control and is gone. The only hope for Sophia is her friends and Zane’s mother who knows what her son plans and knows that loving her son is not justification to allowing him to harm Sophia and continue killing. Zane’s idea of a wedding is a deadly one and when Jared returns home early, he is determined to make Sophia see that the only one she should marry is him.
It is important to read book one first since it sets the stage for everything that happens in book two. All the characters are interesting and are heading to a HEA but does that include Sophia and Jared. Zane must be stopped but as his powers increase is that a possibility. This is not your usual vampire story, but it is a story of fighting for a HEA for a stubborn woman and Jared the man who loves her. This is the end of Sophia and Jared’s story but how does it end, I won’t say.
This is a series that anyone that loves Paranormal Romance shouldn’t miss. A battle between good and evil, romance, sex, violence, secrets and lies, characters that you love despite the one’s you want to shoot, kidding. I also know why the series is called JJ something I was wondering about but won’t reveal.
