As he threatened to do, Loki drags Lia to Helheim, hiding her with his daughter Hel — he thinks out of Freyr’s reach. But Loki doesn’t know that Lia carries the key to her escape. She’s befriended by Baldr and Nanna, gods trapped in Helheim since the worlds were young, who join her in finding a way out for all of them. As they search for Freyr, Freyja and Will, traveling through worlds long believed to be figments of imagination, Lia finds a connection to the dragons, dwarfs and elves who make those worlds their home. She finally begins to see her place in the pantheon of the Norse gods. And she starts to believe that if they can find Freyr — and survive Ragnarök — she will be worthy of her place in his world and by his side.

Author Rochelle Wilcox is back with the third in her The Road to Ragnarok series. Alive Again picks up where Enemies Eternal left off, being carried away by Loki to who knows where.
A bit of backstory from the first two books: Loki’s been trying to get Dr. Ailia “Lia” Leng since she happened upon him and Freyr, another God of Asgard, in a fight in an alley in L.A. The realm of the Norse Gods has hidden away from the humans of Earth, or Midgard as the Gods call it. Because of strife between the houses. and Æsir Vanir, Lia is a target for the Æsir in part because Freya mated with a human who possessed powers like the gods. Freyr falls in love with Lia.
In Alive Again, Loki carries Lia off to Hel, a region ruled by one of his children, also named Hel. Anyone who ends up in the realm of Hel never returns. Loki’s sure that he’s put Lia away for good, just as he arraigned for Baldr and Nanna, two more of the Æsir. Lia is able to take them out with her when they discover a secret about something that Freyr gave Lia.
Once clear of Hel, they race to Asgard to get apples, which keep their health up, and then go in search of Freyr. As they travel, Baldr and Nanna explain that Lia is evidently a key to prevent, or win the coming war, called Ragnarok. She doesn’t know how a mere human can possibly save the universe. She begins to understand as they talk to various groups who find out she’s Freyr’s mate and she rises to challenges.
I like this series. It’s well-written and researched. You may be tempted to see Tom Hiddleston in your head when reading about Loki and Chris Helmsworth when Thor is in the chapter, but don’t, this is not the Marvel Universe, it’s much closer to the Norse mythology the author draws from.
The big war is looming, and the book stops just before things are heating up. I can’t wait to read the conclusion and see how the couples survive this battle.
