This was a sweet story about two men, Bryce Maxwell and Connor Hughs both shifters who have spent ten years apart while Bryce fulfilled his dream of being a hockey star and Connor let him go rather than hold him back.
Now an injury has caused Bryce to return home to Valleywood with the hope of reuniting with the man he has never stopped loving. Bryce realizes that Connor and he are fated mates and since Bryce left before the age of maturity, he had no way of knowing Connor was his one and only.
Bryce refuses to give up on mating Connor, but Connor is afraid of opening his heart again if and when Bryce returns to hockey. Connor also realizes that Bryce is his mate, but fear is standing in his way. What if Bryce leaves again and he is once again left with a broken heart that he isn’t sure will mend again.
Bryce has no intention of leaving. He knows that Valleywood is where he belongs and with his mate, but he will have to gain Connor’s trust, and he will do whatever it takes to do that. Connor never asked Bryce to stay and didn’t offer to travel with him or try a long-distance relationship. His parents were ill, and he couldn’t leave them alone so now it is ten years later and his love for Bryce is as strong as ever, so he has a decision to make stop doubting and start acting.
I am unfamiliar with the Valleywood series but am happy to have had a chance to become acquainted with it.
