Evan Garland recently lost his father and grandmother, his only relatives. He also recently broke up with his abusive boyfriend and when he was told he inherited an estate in Cordelia, Oregon he saw that as the answer to his problems, especially his lack of money.
Evan had no idea what inheriting the manor would mean and what he would learn about his family and the manor. When he was taken to the manor by Cary Beacroft, he opened the front door and was shoved so strongly he hit his head and was taken to the hospital. Evan had no idea that he was shoved by a vengeful spirit, and he was not the only spirit possessing the manor.
When Cary explains what happened Evan does not believe it until he doesn’t listen to Cary and goes into the basement. The evil entity makes an appearance injuring Cary and the reality of what happened convinced Evan that he had to leave. Learning Cary is a Bonafide witch just makes leaving a certainly.
Evan has dreams where the spirits reveal his family’s history. His great-grandmother was accused of killing Leon Cordelia and died a few years after her arrest. She was also accused of killing the owner’s son Andre. It was Andre that left the estate to his great-grandmother but there was a conspiracy to keep the manor and with no will to be found Evan’s great-grandmother lost rights to the estate and it took a century before the will was found, leaving Evan the owner.
As Evan acclimates to ghosts and witches he decides to stay and stays with Cary rather than the manor. He and Evan find themselves falling for each other while trying to figure out how to get the evil entity, Leon Cordelia removed from the manor.
Cary’s coven is working to make the property safe for Evan who is the focus of Leon’s hate. While all this is going on Evan sees his great-grandmother who reveals that it is up to him to end the evil and he puts aside his fear to work with Cary and the coven to make that happen.
I have only just touched on what happens in the book, there was so much more. Evans family history was very sad and the evil existing in the manor is both scary and dangerous.
I didn’t think I would like this book, and I was right, I loved it.
Sex, romance, lies, betrayals and edge of your seat suspense. The characters were amazing, well the good guys.
