Dillon Fitzgerald is a famous singer. He’s also exhausted. Too many shows in a too busy schedule have left too little time for him to write or relax. He feels like the music is being strangled out of him. Some time is just what the doctor ordered, so when his friend offers him a week on a cruise, Dillon gets right on board. All he has to do is grow a little beard and hope no one recognizes him.
Financial advisor Tio Smythe-Barrett has been friends with Dillon forever. When the latest in a long string of girlfriends turns out to be a cheater, Tio offers her spot on what would have been a romantic vacation to Dillon instead. After all, why wouldn’t he want to spend a week with his best friend?
As Tio and Dillon share close quarters, the boundaries in their friendship shift like the ocean currents. Spending time with Tio has Dillon’s creative muse singing, and he can no longer deny that his feelings for Tio go beyond friendship. His heart soars when Tio responds to his flirting—but is he willing to risk what they have for the chance at true love?

Dillon Fitzgerald is a famous singer who always has time for his fans, he loves them as much as they love him. He has just finished a tour and has a month to get his music juices flowing before he must go into the studio to record his newest album. Bone tired, his brain can’t come up with anything he would consider recording but despite his exhaustion his manager keeps coming up with more appearances which would shrink his time off down to almost nothing.
When Tio, a financial advisor and his friend since the eighth grade invites him to join him on a nine-day cruise which he booked with his girlfriend, Carole, now his ex the idea has Dillon excited but hesitant, too much work ahead of him, new music he can’t get a handle on and the fact that it would be impossible to find peace once all the people on the cruise recognized him.
Tio convinces him that a beard and mustache in addition to dressing in the opposite of what he usually does should hopefully do the trick. Nine days at sea, fresh air, peace and quiet prove too tempting to turn down. Boarding the ship, it seems that his disguise is working since no one bothers him. The only problem in spending nine-days with Tio is that he has always been attracted to him and Tio jumps from one woman to another despite claiming he is bi-sexual.
Tio is attracted to Dillon but although liking men he has never acted on it. Fortunately, there are two queen sized beds so they will both have their own space. Going over all the activities available to them and that they are booked in a suite ensuring them privacy a black cloud appears in the form of Tio’s ex Carole who booked on her own since Tio cancelled her and she is determined to cause trouble, she is not a woman scorned because she was the cheater.
Dillon has been able to avoid being recognized but Carole is determined to make his and Tio’s vacation Hell. Fortunately, she has not recognized Dillon since she never met him before, but it is scary to imagine what trouble she could cause if she found out. As the two men spend quality time together Tio fights his attraction while Dillon doesn’t question his feelings for Tio only pursuing anything risks their friendship.
Tio’s fear of initiating a relationship with Dillon is all in his head, if he has sex with Dillon will he be gay or bi, will he change or still be the same man he always was, questions he will have to deal with and get answers on his own.
This would have been a perfect episode of Love Boat, two men one sure of who he is and one trying to find the real him. Tio and Dillon are amazing characters and I loved Dillon and the care he gives his fans, always ready to give autographs and spend time talking to them. Then Dillon does something that would be unheard of by most famous singers, and he does it without hesitation.
I have loved every book Andrew Grey has written and it has nothing to do with sex it has everything to do with the compassion and sensitivity he writes. He is an author who has covered every subject his mind comes up with and always with knowledge of what he is writing about. His description of what it is like to be a famous singer convinced me it was something I would never pursue; well, I can’t carry a tune to save myself but if I did too much hard work.
