Tabby Winslow will help her twin sister Sage with anything and everything—and that includes putting out the flames of suspicion when Sage’s boss is found murdered in this magical mystery, perfect for fans of Amanda Flower and Sofie Kelly.
December in Savannah, Georgia, is a sight to behold. With all the festivities—including the traditional riverfront luminary display during the boat parade—twin sisters Tabby and Sage Winslow are busier than ever setting up for the big celebration. But that isn’t the only thing on the sisters’ minds. Both Sage and her fellow employee Mary Nicole are vying for the sought-after assistant manager job at the plant nursery. But when Loren Lee, their boss, is found dead, and Sage becomes the police’s favorite suspect, both Winslow girls know that they’ll need more than a flicker of magic and their sisterhood to solve the murder and clear Sage’s name.
Soon, Tabby realizes that this is just one of the many problems they have. If being a suspect for murder wasn’t enough, there are more magical problems that they have to fix: Sage’s boyfriend is having a paranormal experience of his own he can’t control, there’s an energy vampire searching for his supposedly lost cousin, her cat suddenly dislikes her, and oh—every time Tabby hiccups, she turns completely invisible. The suspect list grows with each day and it seems everyone has a reason or a connection to Loren Lee.
Tabby and Sage are burning the candle at both ends—but will it be enough to keep their friends safe and find this killer? Or will they be burned by their efforts?

Fraternal twins Tabby and Sage Winslow are magnets for trouble and this time the trouble is murder. Tabby runs the Book and Candle Shop they both own only Sage divides her time between the shop and her part-time job at All Good Things Nursery where she can do what she loves most, work with plants.
When Sage’s boss, Loren Lee Suffield, the manager of the shop seems to be getting sicker and sicker she begs him to go a doctor which he keeps refusing. Unfortunately, whatever was making him ill has now killed him. Sage is devastated he was her mentor and the only employee who didn’t hate him. When it was discovered that he died from poison the first person the police came to was Sage. She has knowledge of what plants are poisonous and the two detectives on the case are not very fond of her.
Sage was hoping to get the Assistant Managers job which Loren urged her to apply for but now the owner assigned it to Mary Nicole who was the second most hated in the shop after Loren and Sage probably hates her the most. As if worrying about being arrested for murder Sage must deal with the fact that her boyfriend Brindle, the shop’s attorney, has cheated on her. When she walked in on him and the receptionist from his law office, he was shocked and although Sage was convinced, he was of sound mind and body Tabby wasn’t so sure.
When Sage walked out Brindle apparently took drugs and is now in a psych ward swearing that he was kissing Sage, so murder isn’t enough now Tabby is positive he was spelled, and magic is the next problem to deal with. Tabby and her boyfriend Quig are doing great and on a personal level forgetting all the other problems Tabby is happy and very much in love. This was a love that began twenty years ago, she thought of him as a friend and from the time he met her he knew she was the one. The only problem is that he has no idea that she and Sage are Energetics pulling and pushing energy from people.
If you have read book one, then you are very familiar with Auntie O who has moved back to Savannah with her partner Frankie. When his past is revealed, he becomes suspect number one. He was a driver for the mob in Chicago but ran from that life and never did anything but drive. He is now wanted by the police and since they made the papers he is wanted by the “family”. Auntie O and Frankie decided the safest thing is to run.
Tabby and Sage have no clue who the real murderer is, and everyone is suspect. Even though Sage is a few minutes older than Tabby she is the neediest. She always needs to siphon energy from Tabby and is hotheaded and ready for a fight. They are complete opposites in personalities, but their love is strong.
Surprises, secrets, suspense and solving the riddle of who the murderer is, which I will not reveal and who is the one wielding magic. A wonderful book and if you haven’t read book one, you should just for another journey into the lives of the twins.
