An optional extra novella to read with the Switchblade Romance series, and for new readers, a great way of introducing Richard and Tino.
After a whirlwind romance, Tino Santini has accepted his CEO’s marriage proposal, but Tino knows that due to past conflicts, his family won’t be pleased by the union. He also has to find a way to keep his vengeful lover under control before he kills someone. Again.
Richard Mason, former gangster and ruthless businessman, is extremely protective of his future husband and won’t tolerate any disrespect. He has to employ all of his restraint to solve their problems in a non-violent way.
In the meantime, a rift grows between Tino and his close-knit family which threatens to destroy his relationship with Richard before it's barely begun.

Full disclosure – this is a novella in a series that I have not read. I found however that there were enough references and tidbits of information about past events for me to enjoy the book. I understood what I needed to know about the characters and previous events to fill in any gaps, and the writing style and flow drew me in enough to be interested in reading the rest of the series at a later point.
Tino and Richard are getting married, but there are some roadblocks along the way. Richard is the jealous type and can not abide by the presence of Tino’s verbally abusive ex-boyfriend. This creates conflict between the couple as Richard decides to take matters into his own hands against Tino’s wishes.
Tino’s family is also standing in the way of their happiness, as they don’t agree with Richard’s shady past. They eventually come around, due to Richard’s intervention and help from Nonna Sofia (who is likely one of my favourite characters ever!). These challenges, coupled with some more small bumps in the road made for some intense make-up sex scenes.
As a main character, Tino is immediately likeable. He has a great energy and love for life. Richard is the yin to his yang – a heavy handed, sometimes grumpy ex mobster that handles problems with his weapons. Together they make a cute couple, and I found that both characters went through very satisfactory growth together and as individuals. I really enjoyed this novella; it kept me engaged from start to finish!
