This was such an interesting take on Santa, how he came to be and the love he lost and found over the centuries.
Audra Humphrey was unmarried despite being in her twenties and considered an old maid. She refused to marry without love, and she was different from the females of her time, stubborn and determined to stay single if she did not find “The One.”
Ross Shepherd’s family are all immortal except for him since he refuses to face eternity alone. When he meets Audra, he knows she is the one and doesn’t waste any time in taking her to bed to prove his love. Their marriage happens shortly after they met, and Ross involved her in his newest endeavor, bringing joy to the world on Christmas Eve. Aura was very excited to join Ross when he delivered the gifts and was instrumental in coming up with many new ideas for what to make.
Ross’ mom can make everything possible with her magic and without that magic delivering gifts in one night to everyone around the world would be impossible. Of course, Ross had to accept the gift of immortality to ensure Santa’s arrival every year. Audra refuses to be immortal and when she becomes pregnant it brought joy to everyone until the day, she lost the baby and her life. Now every time she is reborn Ross must win her over again but there will be no children since she made sure she was magically made infertile.
Time and again Audra and Ross married and time and again she grew old and died leaving Ross alone. It would take a drastic decision by Audra’s mom to give Ross and Audra a chance to finally get it right, so he didn’t have to win her over repeatedly. Now they are in present time and when Audra goes to the local mall to visit Santa she asks for a man, and he promises her one. His wish is for a child, but will his wish be granted.
Ross visits her before sunset on Christmas and is ableget her into bed offering her the gift she wished for, a man who loves her. Can he finally get her to accept immortality, or will he risk losing her again? Unable to tell her about her past and hoping she remembers on her own when confronted with people and places from her past, all he can do is hope that this time she will be his forever.
Such a wonderful story perfect for Christmas, a love story and how Santa began his visits to all the people in the world hoping to bring joy especially for those lacking the money for special gifts for their family. A Santa love story, my first and I loved it.
