Don’t believe what they tell you about Robin Hood, outlaw of Sherwood Forest. There never was such a man. But there is a woman…
That’s me, Robynne: fox shifter, master archer, and jaded outlaw with a fierce desire to avoid trouble. But when my impulsive brother and his merry band of misfits rob a passing carriage, they set off a chain of events that changes my destiny forever. Too late to stop them, I settle for the next best thing: taking from the rich and giving to the poor.
All well and good, except that puts the new sheriff of Nottingham hot on my trail. Operative word: hot, because unlike his predecessor, Daniel is a muscle- and duty-bound knight/dragon shifter freshly back from the Crusades. One who inspires all kinds of new desires…
As outlaw and sheriff, we’re sworn enemies, though we want the same things: justice for the downtrodden, the return of our rightful king, Richard…and a chance to indulge our wildest, most sizzling fantasies.
But that’s not so simple for us star-crossed lovers. The year is 1193 — an era of scheming princes, greedy warlords, and ruthless shifters. To earn our happily-ever-after, Daniel and I must rely on cunning, fierce fighting, and love that burns hotter than dragon fire.
I’ve never let rules, expectations, or impossible odds stop me…but I have to admit, this will be one hell of a challenge.
(And if you hear a canine growling, that’s my fox side. Challenge accepted.)

This is a new take on Robin Hood or should I say Robynne Hood, a fox shifter, and a master archer. It is Robynne’s brother Robert who along with his Merry Men that are the ones robbing the rich and it is Robynne who insisted that the ill-gotten goods be given to the poor. Robert is a man whose brain rarely kicks in and he works on impulse no thought involved.
Robynne tries to stay one step in front of her brother, but she is not always successful and while he is in the act of robbing a carriage with two rich women, laughing and having a grand old time a stranger rides up, a stranger she is all too familiar with, her mate Daniel a dragon shifter and her knight. Daniel is the new acting sheriff, and the previous sheriff left a trail of evil that she believes is Daniel.
Daniel was away on the crusades and was believed dead, five years she grieved for him and now he is back. Unfortunately, Robynne missed the part where he said acting sheriff and not the one with the reputation of being quick to jump at anyone, he feels is guilty of a crime without evidence or proof that ends in death. When Daniel finally gets Robynne alone and can explain what is going on all they can see, and feel is the love they always had for each other.
Memories of running with each other as kids and then the realization that there is more to do together and from then on, they gave into their passion. As the acting sheriff Daniel wants to do whatever he can to protect Robynne and the town of Nottingham and while the gang in Sherwood Forest keeps robbing and giving to the poor, he tries to ensure they aren’t caught.
Then a new villain, Lord Ramage enters town, and as a nobleman outranks Daniel putting more pressure on him to find ways to protect everyone especially the woman he loves. While Daniel tries to keep the peace, Robert is still acting irresponsibly, increasing the pressure and danger on all involved. Daniel and Robynne try to figure out a way to distribute the bounty they steal without endangering the townspeople, they tried leaving money while people were selling at the market, but it proved to be a problem when a little boy found a coin in the fountain and was nearly arrested for stealing. If Daniel wasn’t there no telling what the boy would have suffered.
Robynne decided to go to the abbey and try to get one of the monks to help, that is where she runs into Friar Tuck. Tuck proves to be the perfect person to find a way that the poor would benefit, and he also proves to be a loyal friend. Lord Ramage is on a mission to find Robin Hood and hang him, of course, Robynne takes exception to the fact that no one even considers Robin could be a woman.
There will be two more books in this series, Robynne and Daniel will be appearing in them trying to end the suffering of the poor while staying one step ahead of the hangman. This was a wonderful story, and I couldn’t put it down, now I can’t wait for the rest of the series because I don’t think Daniel and Robynne will get their HEA yet and must settle for HFN.
