Ian Flynn was Captain of the original Sea Dog until it sank and now it is just an empty title. Despite the building of a replica of the Sea Dog, Flynn is not readily accepted since it was his ill-advised decision to head into Savannah even with a storm raging that risked the ship and crew. Now Flynn resides in Atlanta since he is not very welcome in Savannah. If you have been reading this series, which hopefully you have, then you are aware of the Sea Dog crew’s past and their old Captain, Rutger Morgan, who after their mutiny left him to die on a deserted island unaware, he had found the Fountain of Youth and he is immortal like his old crew.
Flynn fell in love with Lily Bouchard after she came to his office for an interview but when he discovered that Morgan was still alive and a major risk to Lily, he left her. There was no doubt that if Morgan discovered her importance to Flynn, he wouldn’t hesitate to kill her so leaving her for her own protection was his decision and it would be one he would regret. Morgan discovered Lily and shared the same bed and breakfast she was in along with Holli the mermaid that betrayed David Bale by stealing deadly relics from the district 13 vault and giving them to Morgan.
With no other choice Flynn tries to approach Lily again but she won’t let her guard down, he broke her heart once and she is not about to let him do it again. Unfortunately, danger to Lily is not the only danger because Morgan has gotten possession of the Spear of Destiny the sword that pierced Jesus Christ’s side and can kill with a single stab even those that are immortal. The entire crew of the Sea Dog is in danger and finding the sword is essential.
Flynn will do anything to protect his crew and Lily. As a writer she has been introduced to the impossible, immortals, shifters, mermaids and a world that should exist only in books. Then another enemy who was presumed destroyed shows its face, the Serpent Society, monks determined to return to Eden and who want the sword and the Grail.
lynn has never been made out to be the most popular character, but we finally get to know the real man who keeps to himself and doesn’t share. It takes his love for Lily to finally get him to reveal the secrets he kept from his crew. So many surprises and secrets were revealed but the only thing that saddened me was that this is the last book in the series.
Although each book can be read alone why would you want to do that when you would be missing out on each immortal pirate and how they finally find their HEA. I loved this series and can’t imagine anyone not loving it as well, pirates, romance, sex, suspense, secrets and betrayal everything you could want in a paranormal Romance.
