If you are familiar with this series, then you know all about the five women who robbed the Prescott Bank and who were sentenced to five years in prison. After serving two and a half years they were given a chance for freedom by becoming mail-order brides for the Campbell brothers .
So far, we have had: Fiona’s story in book one and Maisie’s story in book two, now it is time for Ivy’s story.
Ivy was previously married but lost her husband after only three months. She loved her husband and never expected to be married again but leaving prison early was too good to pass up. She was chosen by Tucker Campbell and of course their marriage as well as all the other brothers and women happened as soon as they arrived back in Prescott. The women returned to the place where they would be hated for robbing the bank, but it did put them closer to the money they stole which was never recovered.
Ivy was happy that her new husband was taller than her and big since she was tall and large. Since she was married before she and Tucker consummated their marriage very quickly and having sex was not something she ran from to the delight of her new husband. The first day a woman arrived at the house that apparently did not sit well with Tucker and Ivy was determined to find out why. It seemed he was engaged to the woman, Annabelle who on the day of the wedding sent him a note at church that she was marrying his best friend now she seems to want him back.
Annabelle lost her husband two months ago leaving her with a mom who was dying and a four-month-old baby boy and as much as she missed her husband, she was determined to give her son a father and she a husband and if that meant getting rid of Tucker’s wife so be it. Tucker and Ivy found out that they were going to be parents and despite neither of them saying “I love you” to each other they have found a degree of happiness and a child was just what they wanted.
Ivy loves Tucker and, in a way, more than she loved her first husband but she is convinced he still loves his ex-Annabelle and Tucker loves Ivy more than he ever loved anyone else but is afraid of telling her because he feels she still loves her first husband. Once again, a lack of communication could leave these two people who love each other never admitting it.
When Ivy is shot Tucker knows immediately that it had to be Annabelle, but no proof and no witnesses puts Ivy in danger, and he is worried about his wife and unborn child. What happens is not something I want to reveal in this review but is something you should find out for yourself.
Love, romance, suspense and another wonderful addition to this wonderful series.
