Clark Wright is an Emergency Room Nurse travelling home at 3:00AM when a vampire sits behind him. It has been ten years since vampires were revealed and now it is commonplace to see them. They introduce themselves; the vampire is Alessio also returning from work. They don’t expect to see each other again but fate has something else in mind.

While walking the few blocks to his house Clark is attacked by another vampire draining him of almost all his blood and leaving him to bleed out on the sidewalk. As Clark begins to feel his end is coming Alessio shows up and turns him. He apologizes but there was no time to get Clark to medical help.

When Clark finally wakes Alessio is there with blood, morphine and an orange and explains that for a while Clark will not be able to be away from him for any period. Clark realizes that he doesn’t want to be away from him and has feelings he didn’t expect to have. When Clark reveals information about the vampire Alessio immediately recognizes the vampire, Rory who he knows and can’t imagine doing harm to a human.

It doesn’t take long before Alessio calls friends who know Rory and are anxious to find him and why he attacked. It also doesn’t take long before Clark and Alessio realize they are mates. Someone is targeting supernatural’s, a werewolf is dead, and a fairy was hurt. Now Clark seems to be the one with a target on his back.

This novella was full of surprises, sex and all questions about who is responsible are answered.
