Part 1 of 2 • Second Chances • Irish Mafia • Family • Hurt/Comfort • Age Gap
Two broken hearts, pent-up anger, the right amount of Philly grit, painful yearning, and the complete inability to move on… This is Alfie and West’s love story. It begins in the wreckage they created.
Mom always warned me when I was a kid. Remember, mijo, stay away from the Sons of Munster, she’d say, wagging her finger at me and all. They were bad. They were mobsters. Then we’d head into church, and she’d hold my hand almost as tightly as she clutched the secret of who my biological dad was.
Since I’d been a bit of a screw-up all my life, it only made sense for me to blow it out of the park when I finally gave up on my marriage years and years later. Then again, who could blame me? I had two success stories—my kids. I loved them to pieces. But the man I shared them with—the love of my life—was moving on. I was also done pretending to be someone else, I was sick of the lies, and…to be honest, I was going through an identity crisis.
So, to hell with it. Since West wasn’t taking me back, maybe the Sons of Munster would accept me.

Alfie Scott and West Scott have been divorced for two years, they share two children, Trip 8 and Ellie 6. Every Friday the kids are dropped off at one of the men’s homes for a week and they work very hard at co-parenting.
West is a producer for a popular show and Alfie works for the Mafia. It was the thing that broke up the marriage even though West at the time knew nothing about it. Alfie kept secrets and changed, which was why West asked for a divorce. West always blew off the comments Alfie made about his family not welcoming him whereas Alfie’s parents welcomed West with open arms. Alfie was always trying to fit into West’s world, a world of wealth, but never felt comfortable.
Kellan, Alfie’s friend from college, introduced him to the Sons of Munster, a crime syndicate where he felt comfortable. Then Alfie learned about his biological father, John Murray, the former head of the Sons of Munster. His mother was John’s mistress and when Alfie was born, he and his mother were kept secret. His stepfather adopted him, and he took the name O’Dwyer.
Alfie began to learn that the now head of Sons of Munster, Finn, was his uncle and he had an older brother, Liam. Alfie always hungered to be part of a family where he was accepted for who he was, and he finally found it. He decided he wanted to be more involved with the organization not just a face on the phone handling meetings. Welcomed to the family because he was family, he was granted a more active role.
West and Alfie finally come to terms with what Alfie is doing and why all the lies leading up to their divorce. West can’t accept what Alfie is doing worrying about his children being involved in the Mafia even though Alfie claims they are never in danger. Alfie is now part of the Sons of Munster and welcomed into the inner circle.
Both men have never stopped loving each other and never looked for a new partner but their differences kept them apart. Alfie also learned what it meant to be part of organized crime and how believing he would never have to hurt someone, or kill was just wishful thinking.
I loved this story and anxiously await book two to see if there is any chance of Alfie and West having a chance at a future together. Two men from two different worlds fall in love have two children and find their lives can’t co-exist.
