Cody Ryan lost her father a year ago and she has decided to compete in the Loon Fishing Tournament which her father always participated in despite her lack of fishing experience. She learned all her knowledge about fishing on YouTube, but she is determined to do this for her dad. With her dad’s johnboat she set out to get a slip for the boat and luckily got the last one beating out a man with a huge red boat and leaving him angry.
Unfortunately, getting the last slip was not the only thing she beat him to, the last room in the inn also went to her leaving a very irate man behind. Signing up for the tournament Cody discovered that women have never been allowed to participate but Cody did her research and nowhere does it state no women. The women of Loon embraced Cody because she is opening the door for all the women in town who dreamed of participating in the tournament.
Gage Connor is a captain in the Coast Guard and his job is bringing drug dealers and smugglers to justice, but he has been convinced that he needs a vacation and so he picked Loon. His decision to enter the tournament was based on more than vacation but that is his story, and I won’t reveal it. So far, his experience since he arrived in Loon has been less than stellar thanks to a beautiful woman who has proved to be a thorn in his side.
Gage’s best friend Dougah Broussard, who he saved when pirates threw him overboard and took his boat, is like a father to him, and he offered Gage his boat for the tournament. No hotel room, no slip and a woman that despite everything intrigues him. When Dougah informs Gage that two men came looking for a bag they left on his boat and it is the boat Gage is using, Gage begins to worry for his friend. He was right because the men left Dougah for dead in the swamp and Gage who tried to leave work behind finds work knocking on the door in Loon.
Gage and Cody seem too always be tied to one another and never more so than when they were picked as the pair for the two-day tournament. It is while fishing together and being chased by drug runners that the two find themselves wanting to be together, only trust is an issue between them. Gage can’t get rid of the girl who keeps grabbing him and Cody decides to use the girl’s brother to make Gage jealous. Neither the girl nor her brother is a threat, but Cody and Gage choose to believe what their eyes tell them rather than find out the truth.
There is a lot about Gage and Cody that I refuse to reveal, and they are very surprising. Secrets and a past will be the catalyst for a relationship long time in the making. A story that grabbed me from the start and didn’t let go till the end.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking your valuable time to read and review my story.
