Mason Harding’s life changed when he was almost killed. While crossing the street he is almost hit by a car driven by Mia Eddison and this meeting would not result in any physical damage but would definitely result in some very unexpected changes in his life. For the last ten years Mason has been in prison with five years of probation ahead of him but the girl who almost hit him is someone he can’t seem to just walk away from. The attraction between the two is instant and hot.
Mia is divorced and finds it hard to trust men since her husband Evan cheated on her with one of her employees. She owns the Shadow Rose Boutique and surprise, surprise it turns out that Mason’s Parole Officer is none other than her brother Jim Borden. When Jim walks into Mia’s apartment and sees Mason things are going to change because having his sister with an ex-con is not going to happen if he has anything to say about it. He begins putting all kinds of restrictions on Mason leaving little time for Mia and him to be together. He also checks on him constantly and calls all the time. Mason lives with his brother and his nephew and Jim’s constant intrusion effects everyone.
Mason regrets everything he has ever done, his drinking and wild ways and is determined to turn his life around. When his parents divorced he didn’t take it well and unlike his brother he went to the dark side. Mia has a way of calming the angry beast that lives inside him and his feelings for her grow each day. Mason begins to reveal the things he has done in his life to Mia but she accepts him as he is. Even when his biggest secrets are revealed and what he did while in prison she believes in him and knows he is trying to change.
Of course Mason’s past comes back with a fury and those he thought would let him go have no intention of doing so. His past can put his future and Mia’s life in jeopardy and he will do anything he has to to protect her. He can only see returning to prison or dying but his choice is protecting Mia and he will accept the first two options if she is safe.
The relationship between Mia and Mason is HOT, HOT, HOT, and the danger is very real. Mia and Mason’s future is in jeopardy and what happens is not for me to say. I will say that I can’t wait for more in this series.
