Jessica Cartright is about to graduate high school and her biggest concern is what college to attend. Jess had a frightful experience when she was almost raped by four men but she woke up the next day in her bed safe and sound with no knowledge of what happened. Since then she has had dreams involving a man, dreams that don’t scare her but leave her wondering who the man in her dreams is.
When she was a child Jess had a childhood love who disappeared when they were in the seventh grade, his name was David and what a shock to discover that the man in her dreams is her first love. David makes a reappearance and claims that Jess is his soulmate and the love of his life and Jess is surprised when she realizes that she also still has feelings for the boy who left her when she was young. Jess and David begin to spend time together and decide to attend the same college. Jess does not have a happy home life, her father adores her and she adores him but her mother has never uttered the word love when it came to her and she has only had contempt for everything her daughter does.
David asks Jess to move in with him but not before he reveals why he disappeared from her life and what he really is. David is a vampire and a prince whose parents are Elders on the Council. His wanting to marry and be with a human is totally against everything his mother has planned for him. David is a born vampire and as the one who will take over for his father one day it is expected that he will also marry a born vampire. His decision to go against his family means trouble.
David’s mother is not someone who is going to go gently into the night, on the contrary she is going to do whatever she has to do get what she wants. Danger awaits Jess and David and they will have to make the decision whether to leave each other or stay together and fight whatever comes their way.
I became a huge fan of paranormal books after reading my first vampire book and have been hooked on vampire stories ever since. This book had it all, sex, love, rogues, danger, suspense and a cliffhanger. I make no secret of the fact that I hate cliffhangers but every once in a while I read a book that I totally love and it having a cliffhanger just leaves me wanting more and I hope the more I crave won’t be long in coming.
