A grumpy-sexy alien and his (mostly) human sunshiny mate find the road to happily ever after is paved with challenges, including a troublesome ex, alien refugees in need of help, unexpected mating instincts, and someone trying to expose alien existence on Earth. Tentacles and tarnation! Will they be able to handle everything in their way and finally get engaged?
RIVER
Working for the Alliance is a sci-fi nerd’s dream–aka mine–come true. I’ve even won the heart of my grumpy-sexy alien boyfriend. Nothing can bring me down, baby. I’m walking on freaking sunshine! Except now one of Kai’s douchey AF exes decides to turn up like a bad case of crabs that he can’t get rid of. I don’t trust him one bit. But I’ve got even bigger problems to worry about. Like helping some awesome aliens in trouble, and maybe moving in with Kai, who’s totally going to propose any day now—right? Oh, and my shady relatives might be hiring an assassin to take me out. So, you know, a day in the life of River Sullivan. I’m sure everything’s going to be fine. Won’t it?
KAI
Just when we think we have a new lead on the drug dealer targeting extraterrestrials on Earth, we run into a major roadblock. And the longer this mess of an investigation drags on without answers, the less I like it. Outside of work though, things are going amazingly well with my adorable mate–dear galactic gods, how did that happen? But with an ex back in my life wanting to be friends again, and the threat of a potential assassin looming, things are getting a little complicated. I love River with both my hearts—and all five tentacles—but even I’m worried I might not be able to protect him from the dangers ahead. Also, I need to figure out how the heck I’m going to propose to him. River deserves something “epic,” and I don’t want to let him down. Am I going to be able to deliver?
Can’t Help Falling in Love with an Alien (Tentacular Tales #2) is a (116,000 words) M/M sci-fi rom com and the second book in the series. It should be read in chronological order. This installment features a pajama party date that will go down in infamy, inappropriate team t-shirts, a half-baked love poem, more Captain Starblade and Lord Vardox, drunken shenanigans courtesy of spaceship moonshine, unexpected mating instincts, plenty of new aliens with problems for River to solve, and tentacles galore. And possibly an epic proposal? This book has an HFN ending and no cheating. Never fear—there is a guaranteed HEA by the end of the series!

We pick up after book one and River has a lot to adjust to, being half-alien, his mate Kai being an alien and now working for the Alliance. River and Kai are madly in love and everything in River’s life is a sci-fi fanatics dream. His series The Tentacular Tales of Captain Starblade is a huge hit but unfortunately is shining a light on him that could result in his mother’s family finally locating him.
Team ANAL, River didn’t see any need for periods between the letters and so Team A.N.A.L. is now Team ANAL. Fortunately for River everyone is used to his bizarre behavior and loves him enough to overlook it. When Kai’s ex-lover Fabian requests him to meet at his bar River is suspicious but Kai is anxious to rekindle his friendship with an old friend despite their relationship coming to a bad end.
Wilder, once a team member and now a rogue responsible for the drug situation, the Alliance has been trying to put an end to is at the bar so of course Kai and his team need to investigate.
River still doesn’t trust Fabian’s motives, but Kai is anxious to rekindle his friendship with him and River will support Kai despite his doubts. Wilder is gone and they learn that River’s family is aware of his existence and is going to be sending an assassin. River’s mother was royalty and she and his father were killed because she married a human and refused to return to her planet, now River is in the line of fire.
Kai’s father is an Alliance Admiral and his mother head of security, and they trust River and are happy to welcome him into the family. When River’s neighbor Tom Jones introduces him to CJ a newly arrived alien who lacks a humanoid appearance and like so many others, finds themselves isolated something must be done and no one is better for the job than River. River is convinced that these aliens are easy marks for the wrong kinds of people, so River comes up with a brilliant idea. Team ANAL’s new mission is ORAL, Operation Rehoming aliens Lovingly, trying to find a way to integrate them without humans aware of their true identities.
CJ dreams of being an Elvis impersonator and in Vegas anything goes, no one will question Alien Elvis a kid’s entertainer. First ORAL mission a huge success and more ideas in the works, I.e., an alien all male strip show. River is a unique individual, caring, empathic and always trying to help others in addition to being a constant source of humor. His first pajama party with Kai was a real hoot although Kai wouldn’t agree.
River is the reason I love this series it is hard to be sad when reading about him, there is no filter between his brain and mouth and to know him is to love him, oops sorry there are those not too fond of him like Fabian and who wish him harm, but they must get through Kai and the rest of the team. There are more trials and tribulations facing Kai and River, but I must wait until book three, so sad but I know the wait will be worth it.
