Catching up on my To Be Read Pile; I picked up reading the next in this series that I want to never end! I love an author who can write a series and have all the characters who begin the series become an ensemble. I first saw this many years ago with Amy Lane when she began the Little Goddess Series. This was new to me, different. Now I still feel strongly about authors who can begin with a group of friends who are always there for each other and grow into a larger group.
Charlie Cochet, Blake Allwood recently come to mind who do this as well, and now I’m reading Beck Grey. Save Me is Book 1 and Embrace Me is Book 2 in this series Love in the Pacific Northwest. I have just finished Choose Me is #3 and again is definitely another great read. Erik left his home in the Northwest 14 years ago after his mother was killed. The family fell apart after that, with his two brothers so lost in their pain and hurting; turned to even fist fighting. Erik could no longer stand the tension and walked away.
Now a call by his mentor who he worked for during college, with an offer to buy into a business where he could move home has appeared. Erik flies home to see about the job, meeting up with the gang of friends he keeps in touch with, and the love he left behind.
Jules has loved Erik since he was in public school. By the time Erik graduated school he was a teen ager and his feelings had not changed. Stef his brother was and still is Erik’s best friend and Stef minced no words to each of them to stay away from each other. But this is 14 years later, Erik still has feelings for Jules, but what about Jules? He is in his 30’s now.. How does he feel?
Erik makes the commitment to buy the business. His friends are happy, Jules is hyperventilating with nerves, Erik has to come back to a family who are still trying to have a relationship, and now shows their anger for him leaving / ghosting them.
The story is sad, and funny, and scary, and heartfelt, and a revelation of how love can grow, how people can feel safety in sharing, and how families can be saved. Again 5* star read. I am starting Book 4 next Free Me……It looks excellent.
