This book is part of a multi-author, The Road to Rocktoberfest series and it takes us into the world of rock and roll and what performing and setting up venues is all about.
Rocktoberfest is on the horizon and David Jordan and his bandmates are performing for their second year. David’s band has achieved success faster than they expected and everyone in the band isclose friends. Chase the lead singer is engaged to Ely who ensures that everyone eats and travels with the band preparing their meals. Ely is partners with Jordan Wright who owns a diner, and a catering business Ely is head chef and catering manager.
Jordan Wright has had a very difficult and sad life, a drug addicted mother who died when he was young and a life living on the streets rather than going into the foster care system. His life took a turn for the better when he got a job working at the diner he now owns as a busboy to eventually becoming a sous-chef. Lyle the owner of the diner took Jordan in like a son helping him achieve his GED and when he died leaving everything to a once homeless young boy. Now he has two businesses, a home a car and is determined to pay it forward helping those like him and working closely with the LGBT youth shelter and other shelters where he can help.
As if Jordan’s life wasn’t hard enough his ex-boyfriend used him as a whipping boy and their BDSM scenes were done without benefit of a safe word which left Jordan with broken bones until he finally escaped. Unfortunately, he escaped physically but can’t get rid of the memories or nightmares and is afraid of being involved with anyone fearing being hurt. Now his only sex is with David Jordan, sex without feeling just a means of satisfying physical needs and usually occurs in bathrooms or in any room available.
David enjoys sex and Jordan is now his go to person but as much as he refuses to accept Jordan means anything to him, he things about him constantly. Jordan who doesn’t want any involvement is obsessed with David, but Tony is always in his head. One night David saw Jordan dancing with two strangers at a club and he went all caveman. He dragged Jordan to his home and his dominance took over. He did not hurt Jordan, but it scared Jordan and he ran. David discovered that he liked being a dominant and wanted to learn about the lifestyle. As he realizes what he needs he also realizes that he needs and wants it with Jordan but whenever he comes close Jordan disappears. Since Ely is Jordan’s best friend and partner it is impossible for Jordan and David not to run into each other especially when they will both be at Rocktoberfest. What happens between them I won’t reveal but they certainly deserve a HEA.
Surprises, sex, rock and roll, secrets, a visit to a BDSM club, sexual abuse and attempted sexual assault were dark moments in the book but there were many more bright spots.
