Warlord Jaxxon Hammer has survived the attack on his home planet Crelentia when he was just a young boy. The attack came from Vralgari vampiric red fae led by Prince Aeralis. The attack led to the deaths of all the women and most of the men. They also killed off the celestial dragons. With all the women dead the survival of the Crelentian race was over since the men could only breed with Crelentia females.

Jaxxon his cousin Zade and the other young men who survived are now on their own with the surviving dragons. Jaxxon’s dragon is Kylo and Zade’s dragon is Galan the two oldest dragons who grew up fast since they were alone. With all the female dragons killed there is no hope for more. The dragons and their riders are bonded to each other and will protect till death.

When Jaxxon hears about Prince Aeralis looking for a magical item in the mining town of Mineva he and his men set out to find it first, but they will find much more than they could ever have expected. Under a shadow of cloak Jaxxon is seen by a woman which should never happen unless she was Crelentian and she was the one he seeks.

Tiara’s mom and other esteemed astronauts from Earth found themselves stranded on Mineva and unable to return to Earth they made their lives there giving birth to their children. When the mothers all died trying to return to Earth Tiara oversaw protecting the younger girls all of whom worked in the mines. Aeralis found out where the magical item was and attacked destroying everything in his path with his demon horde and army. It was Jaxxon who found the girls before they were destroyed and took them on his ship heading to Crelentia where they had a place of safety.

Tiara is a wild woman taking risks without giving it any thought. She grew up in Mineva where fighting for what she wanted was a constant battle and she learned how to get what she wanted. Fighting, gambling she was a risk taker, and it wouldn’t stop when she was on Crelentia under Jaxxon’s rules.

The race to stay safe from Aeralis his army and the demon horde becomes more dangerous. Tiari has an amulet that is the source of magic Aeralis is seeking but it could also be the savior of Crelentia. It shows the way to the dragon breeding grounds where there could be unhatched eggs that would turn the war in Crelentia’s favor.

This book was filled with so much suspense it kept me breathless. Attacks, death, torture and a constant fight to stay alive. Tiara never stops disobeying the rules sometimes bringing about dangerous results.

The book ended in a cliffhanger something I hate but I couldn’t overlook the fact that all I wanted was to get to book two and hopefully it won’t be a long wait.
